I was recently prescribed some lithium to augment the anti-depressant I'm taking, and to be honest I'm scared to use it, for two reasons. The first is the huge lecture the pharmacist told me. He's like "Don't change the amount of salt in your diet. Whatever you take now you HAVE to take for as long as you take this medicine or it will mess you up. Also, if you feel drowsy go to the hospital (shit I feel drowsy all the time, how the hell am I supposed to know when it's the lithium killing me and when I'm just burned out?), and when you get a refill make SURE you get the tabs, because if you switch to the pills they will mess you up." And I'm thinking "Holy shit, this is legal?" I mean, I've seen anti-drug commercials that describe narcotics in a less threatening manner... now I'm afraid I'm going to order a Big Mac and die. That quote wasn't verbatim, it actually took him about 5 minutes to describe the whole do/do-not-do list. Anyway, the second reason is that supposedly it changes how weed effects you. I tried searching this forum for 'lithium', but only found a bunch of threads with people asking how it effects weed, with no answers (well a bunch of people who are like "don't do it" but themselves have not used it so their answers don't mean anything to me). So if anyone has actually used this with weed or knows for CERTAIN (no he-said/she-said shit) the effect lithium has on weed, please respond. Thanks
sorry dude, cant really help ya, i know someone who does lithium along with a bunch of other drugs like weed, opium, heroin, morphine, coke, crack, n all kinda shit though so my guess is u should be cool... n trust me dude, haha u can tell when your about to die, i been there a few times and u definitely know when ur body is shuttin down, so don worry bout it, u say your always tired n shit but if your dieing from lithium your gonna be deleriously tired, like cant even stand to be awake or move.... go take like 8-12 benadryls without taking any lithium and thats probably what you'll feel like if your gonna die off lithium, cuz u'll be so tired u wont be able to do anything and u'll feel all weak cuz of how tired u r
Lithium is a metallic drug which is used to treat extreme cases of bipolar disorder. It is also very toxic. Because the therapeutic doses are so close to the toxic levels, it is only used in the most extreme cases of mood disorders. Those on lithium are given frequent blood tests to make sure that it has not reached toxic levels, which can cause liver failure or other deadly problems. There's a chick at work who's on it and she's always getting toxic and having to go to the doctor because of it. If your doctor is insistent that you be on it then I'd take it but if it's something that isn't a serious need, I'd avoid taking it.
if it was me and it was honestly that deadly serious...i would leave weed alone while i took it and not worry too much about my diet. he means don't make any drastic changes. and i wouldn't put extra salt on food that didn't come with it. how long do you have to take it for? other question, do you HAVE to take it?
dude i heard that shit commplet fucks with you. If you do any hallocigens you WILL die. so make sure you stay away from that. NOt sure about weed though.
Thanks for all the replies. Luckily I'm on the 600mg dose, not the 1800mg dose that they usually give to bi-polar patients, which I believe is the one that's close to toxic. Anyway, I smoked last night and I didn't really notice any different effects, which is good. Maybe you have to take a really high amount, but I'm not going to since I'm only prescribed 600mg/day and I don't want to die/get sick. Thanks all!
