  1. If you have some time, give these tracks a listen. Nothing special. I'm not a producer or anything. I dont have the patience for anything complex. Thanks for your time. :)

Missy & Common w/ dead wrong beat

The goal was just to put together tracks that you could just put on and enjoy, maybe even toke to. The EQ is pretty bad because i have shitty headphones and a really slow laptop. Specially the Medeski beat. I tried so hard to turn down the low kick but i'm not a master at mastering. Anyways, enough rambling. Listen.

  2. props on the biggie track

  3. How do you figure out the tempo for the vocals?

  4. ^what program are you using?

the 2 jay z vocals i got off vinyl, so it was pretty easy to match tempos. the other 2 i found online and used acid 4. it has a beat matching feature that will play a metranome and allow you to quantize each bar of the song. there are other programs that do this, but acid is pretty user friendly for this feature.

you can also use the ghetto way. Get a stop watch and count the bars till you get to one minute. that will tell you how many BPM's you got.

  5. I use Cool Edit. I was just curious of how you match tempos because you did a good job on those songs.

  6. thanks a lot. i usually find that when i make a rough edit and take it outside the studio to listen, i find that the words are a little bit off. They usually sound like they are rushing the beat along. I think a few of these songs suffer from that, but i cant fix it b/c i lost the master copies cuz i'm a pothead.

I'm not too familiar w/ cool edit, but you can pretty much expect any song you get to be at a fixed tempo (most of the time) and you can use the markers to mark out the bars and sync em up.

  7. I know what you mean. I'll master a song and everything and it'll sound good to me but then later on when I hear it it sounds all fucked up.lol

These ones arent my beats. Just got bored and wanted to hear what different songs sounded like spliced together.

Lyrics need to be set back a lil bit, kind of rush the beat, but whatever i lost the master copy.
