Line Etchings

  1. Hey all. Recently took a class called Printmaking 101. VERY fun class. These are prints taken from zinc plates containing my original engraved drawings. Comments and critiques would be welcome as always. (The gun plate was "over-wiped" the resulting image is smeared around the handle, this was an error, if I ever do another set of these, I will make sure to leave more ink on the plate!):)

  3. Thanks so much for the feedback and compliment.

  4. not bad at all. print making is really tough and it looks like you've got a good start at it. Your line work is very fine and steady, especially in the snubnose. I would suggest to you, medium-wise, is to keep practicing different line techniques to increase your tonal value range. Also keep the lines as similar as possible when rendering in like techniques. The skull would have been awesome (still good) if you had kept all the lines and spaces even with each other in each section. I can see you were keeping planes in mind, but focus even harder at following the contour. Line dissimilarity can be forgiven if it more accurately relates the object's volume. For the drawings themselves, I would work on creating objects without defining their outlines. For the monkey, it would have been ideal to just draw the contour with a pencil on the plate and then etch only the hair that overlaps it.

This thread makes me wish I was starting glass etching sooner.

can't rep you otherwise I would

  5. Thank you sincerely for your feedback.

  6. India ink over technical pencil, the female is still being worked on, the zombie (used a Walking Dead Comic as a reference) is pretty much complete. Just figured I would throw these on here too if anyone would like to comment on them.

  7. these are all pretty dope man. nice shit

  8. Was it intentionally meant to look like Angelina Jolie? Even if it wasn't, its very good. Oh and you should show the zombie to Rasta_Man, he loves zombie stuff...

  9. Good eye man, I was using two photo references, Angelina and Tyra Banks, its sort of a mix of the two in terms of features.

Yeah, I posted a pic on Rasta Mans page, I don't think anyone saw it there. :)

  10. Thank you sir.
