Lighting

  1. i have 2 plants i would like to move indoors i can put them in a restroom in front of a mirror with 3 flourescent lights which are full spectrum one beng 35watts and the other 2 being 23 watts, they are above the plants in the wall would this be enough light for the plants? and how long should i leave the lights on? would a black light have any effect?

  2. mirrors take up to much light .... move it to a closet bro

  3. thanks for the help i will move them as soon as i fugure out the lighting for a closet. but is that enough lifht for the 2 plants?

  4. No, a blacklight will only take up space. The mirror is also not good for reflecting light as odd as that sounds. You would be better off putting it in a corner with white walls. The flouros will work but make sure that you keep them as close to the plants as possible w/o touching them. Usually no more than 3 inches away. They should work but don't expect great and fast results with them.

  5. with that being said should i just move them outside once they are more stable? because at the momment i cannot afford a great indoor system.

  6. I don't know where you live but I'd say put em outside

  7. i live in NC which is usually around 80% humidity

  8. You have ample florescent lighting as long as you planned to upgrade to the sun in 4 weeks or so. If you can move it outside safely, then do it.

  9. I just finished a flowering a female under 108W of fluro-power:

But for my next grow I bought more power, I'm upgrading to around 200W. (trying to find the optimum for me)

For vegging it will be enough, for you can veg for allmost as long as you like (6 months or more anybody?), which should allow you to compensate for any lack of light as long as you keep the plant close enough.

For flowering, the timing is a bit different. I will be done flowering in about 8 weeks (average differs per strain) regardless of how little light it gets.

    So practically :

With vegging you can decide when to stop vegging (and go for flowering) when you think your plant is big enough.
With flowering the plant will decide when its time to stop. You don't get to decide how big the nugs are!!!! This is where more power really pays off!

  10. thanks fear for the link to your thread sorry about the two males right now im experimenting with indoor at night and outdoor during the day to give the plants a day. will this fuck anything up? im just trying to make up for the fact that my lighting indoors isnt't the best hopefully i can get a pick of my set up, up soon. also my plants aren't growing as quickly as i'd like and i think i may have burned the bottom leaves because they have dwindled and yellowed between the two plants exept for one bottom leaf on the white widow?

  11. Didn't want to make a new thread since this is a lighting thread. Do you have to use floressent lighting for the plants? Or can you just use normal lights? I was thinking you could juts use a lot of normal lights in the grow box, but I'm not sure if you have to stick to flouressent

  12. Nahhhh. You said you lamps are above the plant so that's where the heat would come from, frying to top part of your plant first not the bottom.
I'm betting the soil is 'less then perfect', maybe something is even alive in there.

Normal lights? Incandescent you mean? Those see thru bulbs with a small metal wire in the middle supported by two skinny 'sticks'?

DON'T USE THOSE. Get the fluro's. With todays prices off bulbs and electricity they will pay off!

  13. burned the leaves with ferts sorry about the miss understanding

  14. Yea, I meant incandescent lights. I looked around, and incandesent lights are pretty cheap, and I can use them with existing fixtures. I'm going to buy some shortly. I'm going to work on one plant inside, and I'll let the rest be outdoor grows.

  15. with the switching of outdoor and indoor my white widow is having problems when moved outdoor its leaves fall and it gets darker in color but my orange bud is showing no problems in either indoor our outdoor has come to pass the white widow in size. also the white widow is doing quite well indoors...

i will also be adding a 32 wat bulb to the set up soon

and also would coatings of tin foil help anything indoors?

  16. you can get full spectrum flouros at any wall mart i believe 32wats to be the highest

  17. i also have found some aphids because of the time when i was moving the plants inside and out for sunlight. anyone know how to resolve this? they seem to only be on the white widow not on the plant right next to eat. they are eating the hell outa my leaves

  18. Make sure you get the infected plant AWAY from the plant that are not infected.
It can be VERY hard to get rid of these of even with a unhealthy dosis of pesticides.

Outside where the aphids live nature keeps these things from eating up everything they can climb. Spiders and ladybugs are my favorite here, for they keep most of the leaves on my trees in my garden.

If you have aphids inside, you are usually royally screwed!:( Sorry, no quick fix here.

  19. i had already started to kill them by hand. i believe i killed the last one tonight... how do they breed within the plant? our just outside?
the last thing i want are pesticides. im going to look into some lady bugs
