lighting when cloning

  1. can some one explain to me or link me on how to set your lighting up when cloning? What type of light should i use? how long should it be on? etc etc.

I have cfls and also a 600watt hps. I understand the veg stage and the 12/12 stage.

I am wondering if I should use cfls for the cloning or the hps?

  2. Use your cfl's for clones on a 18/6 light cycle.

  3. i got one 40 watt cfl, is that cool or do I need more?

  4. That's good for at least 6-10 clones.

  5. In my experience, that's more than you need for clones. You could get away with a 23-watt cfl, or even a 13-watt cfl. They really don't need much until they root.

  6. I use my 600 mh vedge light for clones too they just sit about 5ft away from the bulb. I run 24/0 for vedge and clones, cannabis doesn't need a dark cycle except to flower.

[/QUOTE Are you in OZ? Your power bill must be through the roof having a 600mh on 24hrs a day. Is is cool tube or standard mh?

  8. I use a single 14watt 6500K cfl for my bubble cloner.
    20/4 light cycle.

Clones start showing roots in 3 days and start getting ready to pot from about day 7 to 14 (with a few stragglers going up to 18 days).

  9. Doh! The 600 is on anyway as it has a shitload of vedging plants under it at all times. I just sit my aero cloner off to the side. Just saying if you run a vedge light you can use it for both. I run 1k 12/12 the 600 24/0 and my last bill was 298.dollars I can handle that for what I get out of it.

  10. This is what I did. I had a bunch of mothers under some cheap fluorescent tubes and kept a bubble cloner off to one side. It wasn't even directly under the lights, but it still worked just fine.

  11. my cfl is a bulb, not one of those long tubes. I got it screwed into a standard lamp. Is that still ok?

also do I even need my cfl on my big plants if im using hps? right now i got hps and cfl on my main plant.

  12. Yeah, that's fine. If you're running a 600W HPS, supplementing with a CFL might not do a whole lot to help.
