Can any1 help me ive got 8 baby plants and i have no light and i really have no clue to do with lights or much money to buy them could you use like 5 60 ww daylight bulbs is that the right colur spectrum would that work and is there anything i can do to make them grow bigger and get a higher yield other than using lights please help me
well if you have the money, buy a Hps, or Mh, or Hid Hps= High pressure sodium, Mh=Metal halide, Hid= High intensity Discharge If you're alittle ""poor"" // low on cash... than go with fluoro's.... (daylight Fluoro) bulbs are good for Veg. stage, (Warmwhite Fluoro's) are good for flowering, So i've heard.... but it's always best to go with the Hps .... better yield
You need to do a lot of reading, and fast. Why did you start the plants if you had no idea what do do next? (sigh...) Check the stickies and the links in my sig, especially the light guide. And it will take some money for lighting, nothing in life is free.
Yeah, 8 plants are going to be costly to light properly, especially in flowering. Of course some will be male which you can throw away, but even 4 plants will cost you. Get some fluorescent tubes to start your vegetation under, this will be cheapest. Look for daylight spectrum bulbs, look for a color temperature near 6500k. Depending on how many females you end up with, you might be able to get away with flowering under fluorescents and CFL's, or you might be better off buying a cheap HPS system.
basically thats what i always thought.. hid stands high intesity discharge and hps and mh are both hids
lol ya im sorry.... i didn't kno... I was wondering how much is a Hps bulb, and fixture in Canada, anyone kno? and where could u find one?
do some research.... www.ebay.com www.htgsupply.com www.insidesun.com www.specialty-lights.com and some reading...
If money is tight, you can purchase "low bay" HID fittings quite cheaply. If your MacGuyver skills are up to scratch, you can convert that to a remote-ballasted setup in ten minutes. I got mine for £30, 400W, lamp included! -mu
my 250 watt ebay hps system works great for me so far! was 110 bux with shipping! had it over a year or more!! it pays itself off! just remember hps systems do put off heat
thanks for the outputs, im going to start searching for a hps today, but for now ill use fluoro's since my plant isn't that big YET! "and its the only lighting source i have for now lol!"
