Lighting suggestions for seedlings

  1. Right now I have 4 seedings in rockwool that just sprouted. I have a 4x4x7 grow tent with the works. I have a Hyrdo Farm hood with a 600W HID light. My question is; Is it necessary to use all of my equipment now on the seedlings? Or should I just use 100W 6500k fluorescents until they start to gain some growth. I am skeptical that the 600W HID will toast the sprouts.

  2. Keep the 600 high above them for a few days and they will be fine

  3. Thanks thats what I figured. I decided to do 2 soil and 2 hrydro grows to see what works best in my environment and the second grow I will pick one of the 2. From the rock wool ill be goin straight into their final buckets. Id imagine they wont be sitting in the rock wool for long. I just started germination on the 29th and I already have 2mm of leaf starting to grow. They are seeing light for the first time today.

  4. Sounds like you have a good plan

  5. Thank you! Ive always done outdoor grows. Im excited for an indoor grow this time around. The only thing i'm questioning is if I should get some red, blue, yellow LED light for the flowering stage.

I'd be more concerned with keeping the soil warm-ish 65-75f

and have the seedlings under 2-3 cfl's for a week or so

until they are as tall as a pen

    good luck

  7. Thats exactly what I was thinking about doing. Going from rockwool to soil/hyro - Do you think i'm going to have a Ph problem?

  8. not at all so long as you use some quality soil

like Fox Farm Ocean forest with say 25% perlite added

but I germ in soil too

I'd avoid going rock wool to soil with seedlings

but I'm sure it can be done

cut either way next grow and use rapid rooters

    good luck

  9. Yup! I got FFOF. They will be going into soil/hydro once they are at a pens length.

While I have the chance should I transplant 2 seedlings from the rockwool to soil? I imagine the rockwool will be just fine to put into hydro??

Yes for sure, its important part of your learning to see how flexible cannabis really is and the cantonments for her

  11. Cannabis is easy to grow,,not easy to grow well. Read all you can from folks such as vostok and practice practice practice. You will lose a few and have a few dismal grows but stay at it and find what works best for you and your environment.
