Afternoon homies! So my question is this. I've grown many years many ways but never really understood plants per light and light per room just done the same thing every time. I've always run 1 x 600w hps over 4 plants in whatever size space I've used. So how many plants would your grow (say a sour Diesel run) under a 600w Hps on super lumens. Another question would be how many lights would you run inside a 3m x 2m x 2.4m high tent. If I worked it out right is roughly 470 cubic feet. Because I've always been under the impression that more lumens means more penetration but of course it becomes hard to cool the more lamps u use. Thanks in advance
i’ve been growing for years. commercials are great. but i have 1 600W HPS per each 4x4 space. in that 4x4 space, i either set 16, or 25 (depending on strain) I’ve grown for so long, but never know what i’m actually doing to it. i just... grow

Might not be right but I think there are a lot of variables Mainly light spread and the intensity of your light at certain heights. We know you have a 600w hps but don't know the coverage or hood/reflector you're using With that info you can probably figure out your light spread, an intensity, at certain heights
Ive got a par meter. It was more because I see a lot of people doing 6 or 9 plants under 1 x 600w. Now I'm doing 20. I have 4 lights but am I overlighting them is my main question I spose. Also depends on how long you can or want to veg. I think the number is only relevant to the grower. I wanted to only flower 4 to stay legal. But ended up having to throw an extra 3 in to my tent cause they outgrew the veg tent lol. Have you used your par meter yet? That would give you an idea if they have too much light ya?
1 x 600w hps maximum yield 4ft x4ft (some good quality bud with loads of popcorn) takes hours to harvest, cool room best quality bud with a high yield 3ft x 2ft room (quick harvest, lower plant count) needs more airflow (hotter room) (scrog or sog will give you the best yield) sog = very quick veg, loads of plant scrog = long veg with lots of training , low plant count
I haven't really got time for scrog or sog atm as you've seen joe I have 4 plants in a 4 x 4 square bulb at about 14 inches with one tiny lady in the centre of each 4. Is it worth switching to 1k per 4 or is it better to stay at 600w. I have used it on the fish tank for my corals but not in there mate. sorry mate had quick look at the question and didn't spot it was you lol year i would swap the 600w for 1 kw, its going to make a massive difference in yield, I would change them in a weeks time
