Lighting question

  1. What kind of lighting would I need for lets say 4-6 plants in a 10x10 room? This is going to be my first grow by the way. I was wondering if I should use cfl or hps lights.

  2. bump :O

  3. if you have a 10x10 room you would be best off gettin an hps system. You would need way too many cfls to cover 4-6 plants.

  4. I agree you want HID not CFL for that many plants. You could do with a 400w but I would recommend getting a 600w if you are thinking 6 plants. That room is too big for just 4-6 plants, use a corner of the room for 2 walls and then build 2 more "walls" to pen in the grow area. Or, build a grow box inside of that room.

  5. A good rull of thumb is around 40 - 60 watts per square foot. So if you wanted to utilize the full 100 SQ feet you would need at a minimum 4000 watts. I personaly have 87 SQ feet of grow area and use 6, 400w MH along with 4, 250w HPS for a total of 3400 watts. So I am around 40w per square foot.
