ok so i have a 400W HPS lamp (and Ballast) the bulb says its a 400W MH. this is a kit i bought at a local hydro store. 1. is this enough light for 5 plants? 2. should i get any other lights that would help me out with either Vegging Or Flowering? 3. i have the plants under a 24/7 light cyccle right now 2 ft above the plants. the plants are 3 in high.
Maybe im just blunted, but do you only have a 400 watt MH? Youll need the MH for veg, and an HPS bulb for flower. You will need a ballast that is switchable to run two different types of bulbs. How old are they? Any pics? Yes, its enough for 5 plants, but be sure to rotate them often.
i have pics ill post them when i get home from work around 7. they are clones from a Med Club. they are three days in my care and are 3 inches in height. (2) are non-soil drip system and the other (3) are in soil. the light setup i bought came with a lamp and a ballast, and its a MH bulb im going to the Hydro store to ask and see if i have a interchangable ballest. but could i tell by just looking at the ballast? oh and im giving the plants a small amount of nutes. the water for the past three days has been around 280 PPM for both plants and they have a PH of 6.0. is this ok or should i hold off and just feed them regular tap water?
well anony i just got back from the shop. first off the light that i bought is a switchable ballast, the guy at the store just said when i reach the time when i need to start flowering to come back and pick up the HPS bulb. here are some pictures of the grow as i said the plants are three days in my posession dont know how old they were prior. i also put them on a feeding timer 3 times a day for 15 minutes and the light i took off the 24/7 light cycle and put it on a 20/4 light cycle. i did this to allow photosynthasis to happen. if anyone has any sugestions please chime in................
if thats a soiless mix then all is good, however, I'm not sure about the ph, in water culture its 5.5, soil 6.2-6.8.
it is soil less. but as far as the ph goes i have read that 5.8 to 6.3 are the optimal levels in whitch nutes are more readily availible?
I use a bubbler system(water) and I run mine 5.5-5.8 until the last 2 weeks when I up it to 6.0. Oh as for that being sufficient lighting, yes, but I have three plants with a pair of 400s and well see for your self, here's the link. http://forum.grasscity.com/attachme...icts-dagirls-hopefully-oct2006-001_edited.jpg
cool thanks chimera, hey i have been trying to find out about light cyccles for the Veg state. some people say leave it on 24/7 untill you want to flower some say keep it at 20/4 as to let osmosis happen.... whats the perffered cycle??
