Hi there i havent long been a member on this forum and am looking for some infomation on lighting requirements. I work in an electrical wholesalers and can get most of the lamps and fittings i will need to start growing for my first time. Can i start by using a 80watt MBF lamp and fitting. ? Or would it be better if i got a 70 watt HQI lamp and fitting ? You have more of a option on coulour with the HQI than with the MBF lamp (Ie:blue,yellow,green ! Im just looking for opinions so any advice would be appriciated on this subject.
I use this kind for veg and its about the smallest you could really get away with, and for flowering if you wanna use the same kind of bulbs you need at least two 200w 2700k and maybe a 100-200w 6400k
I don't know what MBF and HQI are, and I doubt most others here do either. A lot of us speak knowledgeably here about lighting options but only because we know about lighting specifically as pertains to MJ growing. That might give the impression that we know about all kinds of lighting, but I for one do not. The most common lights used for growing MJ are MH (best for vegging) and HPS (best for flowering). There also are fluoro options, both tube and CFL. LED is also viable but is not widely available at a competitive cost yet (but it's getting there). I know details about these lights but jack shit about any other kind of lighting.
