I have a good sized plant going, but I'm giving most of my lighting attention to the top colas, since I've read that's where the best bud is. But I'm kind of curious why the lower bud isn't as good. Is it because there is usually insufficient lighting or because of plant genetics? Has anyone grown a plant in a photron room or something similar where there is equal lighting from the bottom to the top colas? The reason I ask is that I have a great number of smaller buds lower than the top colas, and seeing as I only have one plant, I'd like to try and get the most bud from the plant as possible. I believe we have about 3-5 weeks of flowering left. So: A.) Would putting lights near the bottom help the bud growth? B.) For future reference, will more light allow larger bud growth? Or is it just plant genetics? Thanks everyone
Plant genetics have alot to do with it. But once thats in place more light helps ALOT!! And yes, light on the sides will make a DRAMATIC difference. It will put light all over the plant mainly the bottom that doesnt get much light. In my room i have a 1000w HPS with 3 4ft t-5's on the walls for added light and spectrum. You can see 2 of them in this pic. The other one is on the opposite wall You wouldnt believe the growth in the week since we put these up. Not only did the bottom branchs grow, the over all look of the plants is better. And the buds on the lower branchs are really loving that extra light and spectrum.
Very simular to mine. im cutting the top colas in 4wks time then im lowering the light for the lower bud sights, mine are also small but for the past few days they've been growing fast. Spike, did you cut all the leaves off of your plant? That might be why those buds are so small. I dunno if thats the reason but it could have something to do with those being so small and being that far along. Other than thatj, that first one is good pic!
