ok, so in my mind, i have a 2x2 room right now with a 400W light in it. i figure moving to a 10x12, id light it with 4 600W hoods... problem is, it proving quite difficult to find 600W MH bulbs. Why? i like lumatek ballasts, but i know they have problems with their 1000W, and for some reason, i think going down to 400W would not be enough.... ive been trying to find the pic floating around here that illustrates the footprint of each wattage, but it continues to elude me, feel free to post it up
600x4=2400watts.. 400x6=2400.. idk mang if you cant get the 600s i dont see anything wrong with the 400s.. i mean youd obiously save a shit ton of money with the 600s but both would be dope edit:what makes you think that "..going down to 400W would not be enough.."?
because my model was not based off of wattage, it was based off of 4 hoods dangling from the ceiling. in other words 400Wx4 vs 600Wx4
i would just stick to one 600 watter and keep things subtle. just bring it closer to the plants, its just as good. the sun is at 5300k and the 400 watter sends out 5,500 so anything better is better for the plants. but too much will be overkill.
if you planned on air cooled hoods in the room you could keep the 400 in the middle and put a 1000w on each side it's still 2400w...less wiring, hoods etc. if they are air cooled and your room exhaust is decent you could get the lights closer and the 1000w will produce denser buds... just a thought.... and the 600w bulbs are ridiculously expensive..compared to 1000w
you missed the point son.... i cant find 600W MH bulbs air cooled, yes... but the lower the light, the smaller the footprint... this is a 10x12 room, will have 20-25 plants LST'd so i thought id need more light hoods since they will be lower.... i also think that 4 hoods would be better if one happens to go down, it only knocks my op down 25% rather than 33% or 50% while im waiting for a replacement or repair
10 x 12 room and 4 lights / lots of heat be sure they are cooled. I have 2 400 hps and 3 4ft floro tubes on the perimeter on end. HPS's are cooled. Room is 8 x 10
