After much considering I think I'm going to go with a Rubbermaid/CFL setup like LifeLess here: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=51381&page=1&pp=15 I have a 250W HPS that I got like 15 years ago...I think the technology has come a long way...this thing is a beast! Must weigh like 30 lbs. So I think I'm gonna ditch it and go CFL for electricity cost/heat. Good, yes? But damn my 26w daylight CFL's were like a buck apiece...I've tried 3 different places in my town and they didn't have 42w 2700ks. First, don't double post. You posted this exact question in the beginners section. Second, just do a search on google for CFLs. You will find the cheapest prices available online. Good luck.
Thanx MadReef & I apologize. Wasn't entirely a double post tho...this one I was asking if I should keep this beastly HPS or go CFL. Like I said I've searched Google and about $10 is the best I've found. Not everything shows up in a Froogle search tho and sometimes the best deals are buried on page 20 of the web search. Thought someone may have bought them online cheaper. So $10 is the best I'm gonna do? Already dropped quite a bit on seeds, bought a Dremel, Ph meter & lots of other stuff. Just hesitating to throw down another 50 when I have this HPS...
Ha! A knock @ the door....I got my be-eans....I got my be-eans (dances around) White Widow & power skunk. Fortunately I have my veg chamber setup but now it's crunch time to figure out my flowering lighting...
Thanx me too! Props to The Attitude bank, ordered last Sunday with the basic confirmed shipping, pretty fast. The wids are feminized. Used filtered water between paper towels & put 2 of each in 2 tupperware sandwich containers. First grow, I'm psyched.
Not sure about 42W, but you can get 2 6500K 26W for 7 bucks at walmart. At home depot I got a 10 pack of 26 6500k for 30 bucks...that was a good deal but I couldn't find it when I went back recently.
