Lighter

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by 1595123zz, Oct 9, 2010.

  1. How do I turn my lighter sideways without burning myself?

I don't have weed yet, but I was just playing with the lighter. I turned it on, on it's side and it made a sizzling sound, then I burnt myself. :(

  2. You will usually be sucking the flame down into the bowl so it won't get your fingers with the flame.

  3. I put it inside the bowl, but when it starts sizzling, the flame keeps on getting stronger and weaker, and it'll sometimes move from side to side and burn me. :/

  4. Pivot your wrist.

  5. i don't know why your lighter is sizzling, but that's probably unrelated to you burning yourself

when you are actually inhaling, you should be drawing all the flame downward into the bowl, thus keeping it away from your fingers.

practice i guess? it's not exactly hard

  6. Hold it slightly diagonally so the flame is over the bowl, "button" part facing downwards.
    Seems pretty simple?

  7. Well you suck the flame down into the bowl so it won't be burning you.

  8. Picture's worth 1000, etc...

hold the lighter in such a way that the flame isn't going towards the flintwheel or your fingers...fingers burn and you'll heat the wheel up too much and burn the next person who tries to light it

  9. The actual lack of sense displayed by the OP gets me thinking they're more than likely under 18...I mean come on. LOOK at the lighter.
Do you need to do more than observe a match to know not to hold the bit that's on fire?

  10. LOL I should've never ventured into the Apprentice Tokers forum. SMH.

I used to accidentally burn myself when I was 13.

  11. The burning is normal.
Eventually you will build a tolerance in the area of exposure.
Come back when you learn to use a lighter.

  12. Turn it sideways and light it using your finger instead of your thumb. Works every time for me.:D Also, if you're going to light it with your finger, it'll make lighting it a whole lot easier if your remove the safety.
