Yes As a matter of fact you can, but not just any normal light bulb. Has to be one of the following- CFL,MH,HPS or LED
totally agree with above post, but also dont forget wattage, like if ur using CFL's one 20watt bulb jus wont cut it atall, a good rule of thumb is about 100watts per plant(can get away with bit less), but this isnt so relevent when using HID lighting such as MH & HPS what lighting are u using?
Energy Smart General Purpose Bulb | Walgreens if this isnt the right kind post me a link from walmart or walgreens
Ya head to Wally World, get that type of light, i currently have one 26W 6500k for my seedling then adding on 3 more later as it gets larger. You need at least 100 watts though for your plant, and that is actual watts, not equivalent.
yeah thats wat i want rite? actual 100w and school me on this why u want to buy like five more light bulb when yu already have 1 lightbulb that is 100watts
Mine is only 26W, so i need like 4 of them to achieve the 100W minimum. That's what i meant by actual and equivalent watts; it may be 100W equivalent, but it's only 26W actual, which is what you are really looking for.
The rule is 100W for the first plant and 50W for every plant after that. You might want 4 bulbs instead of one, so that the plant gets light from more than one source, so instead of growing straight up, he will grow out also. Another reason is because the stronger the lightbulb, the more cooling is needed. If you have 4 26W bulbs, they wont get as hot as 1 100W bulb, so you dont have to have a fan inline with the light.
You could go to home depot and pick up a receptacle to socket convertor, or just get more light receptacles and wire them in if you know how to.
Get a surge protector, the light socket receptacles, and make a cfl strip. I would get the Y splitters as well is space is an issue.
