I made a Light bulb vaporizer yesterday and did everything the you tube video said i was supposed to, except for one thing. It says to use salt to get the white stuff out. I got most of it out, but there is a little that wont go away, right where the metal meets the glass. I decided to leave it in there and toke anyway. I used a jet-flame lighter, and dropped about .3 G of mids in the bulb. I started lighting the bottom, and i kept holding the flame about 3 cm away from the glass. Sometimes i would let the flame touch the glass for a breif half second and pull away to speed up the process. I inhaled the vapor and got really high. i didn't vape anymore. It was great, but after a while, my throat got a little irritated. I went downstairs to get water. I had ate alot before vaping so i wasn't so hungry. I drank about 3 glasses of water and my lungs still hurt. I got suspicious that there was some dangerous gas inside of the light bulb, or that the white stuff up top got vaped. I downed a can of coke in one gulp in hope to make myself throw up any bad stuff that I might've ingested. That messed with my stomach, and my breathing was getting harsh. I went to brush my teeth, and use some mouthwash, for some reason (It was a head high), and my gums started bleeding a little. My gums bleed most times I brush my teeth, but only a little. this time it was enough to make my spit a little brown. I took a benedryl(Allergy medicine) in hope to make my breathing easier. After that, i nursed a sore stomach and went to bed. I woke up way earlier than usual, and ate a bowl of cereal. After that, my throat felt like i had acid reflux all night. I'm started to wonder if there is something dangerous about using the light bulb vape. Is there something dangerous, or am i just freaking out over nothing? I apologize in advance for the lengthy post.
and thats why u dont do ghetto shit in order to smoke, buy a bowl or save up for your own vape bro...you probly got that white shit in your lungs, or even worse glass
Nah dude, that's not normal, and your not freaking out over nothing . . I've made lightbulb vape before, no problems. Maybe you just didn't clean it good enough, because vaping straight bud wouldn't have such nasty side effects. Next time, if you want a next time, use a clear bulb with none of the white crap. Or save up for a real vape.
I have never had this problem but every time I made a lightbulb vape i cleaned it out like 10 times to make sure i got every thing out after those i just bought a da buddha vape it is so much better and its worth the price
After reading what your symptoms are, they very well could be dangerous. If they don't improve, or are getting worse, go see a doctor, sooner than later. Your health is not something you want to fuck around with for you very well could have inhaled something that could cause your body long term damage. Like the poster above said, if you're going to vape, get yourself a legit vape made by a brand name manufacturer. Stay away from those cheap Chinese knock-offs cause they could be just as toxic as the crap you just used.
Thanks for the posts, i cleaned another light bulb out with salt and dishwashing detergent. It seemed clean, but the same symptoms persisted. I did it with a friend and he said he had the same symptoms. It could be dirty vape, and it could be something else. I dont trust it. Ill stick to bowls until i get a real vape.
I've made a couple from instructions I've found on Youtube as well. One broke before I could use it, one I used once or twice before stepping on it in a car, and the last I used a couple times before my parents found it and thought I used it for smoking crack. But from my experiences, I've never had those symptoms. I did cough quite a bit though, but that was from the horrible taste of it. But I just use my bong/waterfall bong now, those work great!
Fuck those ghetto lightbulbs. Makes no sense. User your bong, joints or glass spoons till you can afford a legit vape. The ONLY reason why people want to vaporize is because it's healthier, saves you on weed, and tastes better. The diy lightbulb vapes do none of that so why bother?
I have to agree with just about everyone else, I actually made one of those today and I made sure to clean it very well, I used salt and then some rubbing alchohal to get rid of anything I may have not seen. None of the side-effects cept the head-high were present so either make sure it's very clean before u use it, or pick up a real vape (or a cheap bowl) so then at least u know none of that bullshit is going into ur lungs. If u can't get one from a smokeshop, talk to ur local dealer

Sorry to resurrect such an old topic, but to anyone who looks to this page for advice, I must say: This is not the cleanest, safest way to smoke; still, cleaning the lightbulb out very well could make it into a useful, cheap, "ghetto" smoking tool. In this case, KcKewlz is smoking kaolin (white powder) and dish detergent (and mids), and wondering why his stomach and throat are irritated. Please be safe, Blades. Kaolin is harmless except, perhaps, in situations involving the smoking not-for-consumption grade clay mineral. That I can not speak for. They use it for both organic farming and in many traditional (and contemporary) medicinal practices. Just wash the fucking bulb.
I made a light bulb vape a while ago, shits legit gets u stoned and doesnt have alot of smoke so u can jus smoke even when ur rents are home hahahah but im a little nervous cause i only had a frosted bulb i cleaned it out multiple times but its still frosted, can it be the color and make up of the glass itself? im jus nervous because apparently inhaling argon (the white shit) can kill you, im sooo not looking to die. there no residue on the inside of the glass if i wipe it nothing comes off so my ultimate question is is it jus the color of the glass???? (no matter how many times i clean it the frostyness remains)
LOL. So let me get this straight. You say that your light bulb vape is legit but your concerned that it's gonna kill you. Here's something that SHOULD cause the lightbulb in your brain to start flashing. If your concerned that your vape is going to kill you, then it is NOT legit. (sigh........................)
They ring of white stuff never fully goes away... I've used a salt and iso combo and nothing happened... i think you're safe.
the powder coating the inside of the bulb is called kaolin, which is just a ground-up mineral. It is completely safe and not toxic in any way. It's only there to make the bulb opaque, and is, for all intents and purposes, just ground-up clay. edit: sorry meant to say it could also be talc powder, which is harmless, or silica, which you shouldnt breathe in but it wont kill you. either way your just being paranoid, and ive wasted my time and weed on those.. so not worth it mang, buy a bowl.
SIMPLE SOLUTION---clean out the white stuff with alcohol, not salt. problem solved. works a lot better
ive always used salt and water.. no problems.. or if you really wanna waste your money go find a clear lightbulb at the store.. usually the same price. lol
