I have never thought of using one of those for a grow......interesting idea. I have a similar spotlight I keep in my truck, and I know they put off a lot of heat being a halogen bulb. Other than being a pain in the ass to keep charged all the time, it might work. Give it a shot and let us know.
like an excess ammount of heat for a grow? because there is one with 5mil Candle Power, that would only be half the millions of candles lol. but half the heat too.. so. I will let you know when I buy one. Thanks for the input.
does anyone have any other comments? Im 5 weeks into my grow, well I got the plant when it was almost flowering and about 2 month clone, so I guess more then 13wks. but Ive had it for 5wks. Im gona get one of those lights friday and then grow my plant for another week or 2 with it then flower, im kinda lst but more bonzi.
do you know what spectrum of light it is though? im still new but im pretty sure that you need a certain spectrum of light to have optimal growing conditions
Don't use halogen lights. Here's a faq from OG Don't use regular incandescent bulbs ("grow bulbs") or halogens to grow cannabis, this type of light generates huge internode spacing, poor vegetative growth, skimpy yields, and could set your grow room on fire due to the dangerous amounts of heat these lights produce. Spend your money wisely, invest in Fluorescent lighting (good), or High Intensity Discharge lamps (HID-- recommended). HID lighting such as Metal Halide (MH) or High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) supply the high-intensity light that cannabis needs for good growth and large buds. Added technical information why halogen lighting is a poor choice for plant cultivation by wannabee2004: Q: Do halogen bulbs have a good spectral output for plant growth? A: No, the spectral plot output of various halogen bulb types is by far the worst. Q: Are they efficient at generating useful light for plant growth? PAR stands for Photosynthetic Active Radiation: the wavelength range of light between 400 and 700 nm that can be absorbed by leafs for plant photosynthesis. You're saying that bulb is 12 million lumens? So the equivalent light output of 75 to 100 1,000 watt HID lamps? I don't think so...
