My plant is currently in its 3rd week of flowering and Ive noticed some like whitish/silver spots forming on the top of a couple of the leaves. In the past day or two I noticed some browning around the edges of a couple leaves as well. The 250W HPS was about 8-10 inches away from the top of the plant. I just lowered the plant and its currently about 11 inches away from the light. In the past week I gave it 1 liter of 15-30-15 on the 9th, 1.25 liter water on the 11th, 15-30-15 .5 gallon on the 12th, and .3 gallons of water on the 13th. The plant food I used is generic Jacks Classic or something of that nature. I think I made the mistake making the nutrient solution too strong and giving it too frequently because I did increase the strength a little. The temperature for this week has been like a low in the mid 60s with a high in the mid-to-high 80s because I had no a/c and it was too hot outside. You can also view more information at my grow journal http://forum.grasscity.com/indoor-g...gseed-closet-1st-grow-soon-250w-mh-hps-3.html Id really like to keep this small problem from turning into a bigger one later so any help is greatly appreciated. UPDATE EDIT: Its now starting its 5th week of flowering. I was away for the weekend and so I didnt give it any water since Friday, and the last time it got nutrients was on the 19th. Came back and its gotten worse, and theres now white blotching on one leaf that is mutated and I cant find anything that talks about these symptoms. <see below for pictures> I started giving it water that had a pH below 6.2 because the runoff was still above 7. The last time I watered it, the runoff was just under 7. What should/can I do?
Looks just like the light burn I had to me if it was nute burn the edges of the leaf curl up. I have several plants that when I move them to my flower side I have to keep them a little farther away from the lights for the first week. Im dumpin like 50 watts square ft (7435.9 Lumens sq. Ft to be exact). so its like daylight in there.
Looks like a little light damage but your specs seem to be fine (11 inches away). I run a 600w HPS and have some plants 8" that don't burn, but that could be a strain specific thing. One thing I've noticed - when a plant is a little overfed it seems more vulnerable to these kind of stresses for some reason. The leaves look a little dark green which is a sign of excess nitrogen so that may be a contributer. Your leaf edges look pretty flat though so it's not a lot of excess, but I think that might be a suspect. In any case she looks lovely. Maybe skip a feeding or two and keep an eye out for this to progress any, good job on acting early! Good luck!
Have you checked the undersides for bugs??? It almost looks like spider mite damage as well. Just shootin it out there so it is ruled out.
So I only gave it water for the past like week and it seems to still want to be troublesome. Heres one leaf though that has almost all the characteristics of the leaves that are showing problems. Do you think since I didnt give it nutrients for like a week its starting to show a phosphorous deficiency with the blackening on the side of the leaf?
Hmmm.... honestly I have a hard time believing it is a P deficiency, though it sure looks like it. Phosphorus is not locked out quickly (like magnesium or calcium) by ph and judging by the rest of the plant - just doesn't seem like a deficiency. I'm leaning more towards burning myself. It's frustrating how similar they can look sometimes! Do you have a TDS or ph meter? If you measure your runoff you'll get an idea if your soil is hot. Low ph and/or high ppm readings can confirm such suspicions. I'm just hesitant to say to add any more nutes or treat a deficiency. I could be way off so don't take my views too seriously, hopefully someone else has some input, but my vote is not deficiency.
All I have is a meter that measures pH. Its now starting its 5th week of flowering.
