light setup

  1. what would be a good HID light setup for 4-6 plants at around middle price range?? any help would be appreciated. i plan on starting a first grow soon and im still kinda figuring things out

  2. 250 watt HPS. You want a minimum of 50watts per plant, or for a good yield 100 watts per plant. Try inside sun.

  3. thanks man, any other opinions?? i also have another question, if i were growing multiple strains at once would i switch the light scheduale for all of them at once or would they be ready for the flowering period at differemt times.

  4. i you really want to grow 4-6 plants, you don't want anything smaller than a 400w if you wanna get really good results...maybe even a 600w

  5. im leaning towards the 600w, would it be best to switch out bulbs from MH to HPS during the switch, or just use HPS the whole time??

  6. 600watts would be kind of excessive for that many plants, and not very cost efficient. You should use a Metal Halide bulb for vegatative growth, then switch to High Pressure Sodium for flowering.

  7. Plant numbers aren't going to limit your yield, necessarily. In my opinion, 600w would be great for 6 plants in 5 gal DWC buckets. I currently have 4 going under a 400w and I wish I had gone with the extra wattage and bought the 600w. The price difference between the 400w and 600w will be negligible, too.

They have them listed for as little as $220. Check around on google as there may be a better price out there.
