I just got my first seed to put out its little taproot. Im about to plant it in drained moist soil, and cover it with a baggie. But my question is, do i start giving it light right away? or until it sprouts and breaks through the soil? Thanks!
Welcome to GC. This is a common question and has been answered in many other threads. A lot of people wait until they see a sprout before turning the light on as to not dry out the soil, some people turn it on right away to give the little babies some encouragement. Ive seen it work both ways. I wait 48 hours, then turn it on to get a little of both, just make sure the soil stays damp and it stays humid in the area. Good luck, read up all you can to get a head start on them before they get the head start on you.
Alright thanks, ya ive read both ways so i was just looking for an opinion. I just planted it and put a bag on it to keep in moisture. I guess ill wait until i see a sprout!
sounds like you've done right so-far i put mine in a plastic party cup (forgot to make it light-proof), stuck the baggie over it and went straight under 24/0 125w envirolight. I also germinated 1 just by planting the seed (ungerminated) about 1/2 inch down and covered with a baggy. all were sprouted withing 36hrs. Check my sig for my grow journal.
