Anybody use light movers ? If you do not know what it is lol. sorry . Us old school growers some of us use these with hps . Me personally i never use them. Some farmers swear they give more yields . Me personally i add too much light so there not needed . I wonder if anybody uses them for led ? Please share thanks
It seems to me the reason HPS growers use light movers is because they require the use of a reflector and that keeps the "footprint" fairly small. Combine that with the fact that the intensity of the light drops off so fast and it would make sense to move them around for better light distribution. A decent LED board already focuses the light down, and has a much more even spread/better penetration...so I guess if you have places in your canopy that aren't getting the light they need you could use a mover, or you could just add another light and probably still save money in the long run...but I'm not an expert, just a fairly well informed average dude
I just never cared for them. I found that the rubber wheels on the track broke down over time and left lots of bits of rubber in the track and below it on the plants. You can replace those, and I did, but it was a mild PITA….
Yeah that all depends on the reflector and how much vertical height you have. A good reflector with adequate vertical height will give you a better footprint than most LEDs put off.
I've honestly never grown with an HPS light, and almost all my research is into LEDs, so I can't argue with that...I was just pointing out that it would probably be more efficient and effective to just add another light if using LEDs instead of moving them around
Used to be a lot of arguements about light movies . Its was a debate like the flush debaet on here. I see they are not cheap . 100 bucks . For that price its better to add another light and pay a biggger ebill .
