Light lost half its brightness?

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by TheGreenHouse, Sep 24, 2007.

  1. I have a 600watt hps agromax bulb that has been ran for three weeks on a 18/6 scedule. Today when I checked up on things it looks like it is half as bright as it was yesterday, it looks very orangeish. My temp in the room is 94 right now because of some ac problems that are currently being fixed, i dont know if a hps bulb can get too hot or not, the bulb is reflectorized on the back and is 6 inches away from the ceiling. This bulb is only three weeks old! Any info on what a hps looks like when it is blown or if anyone has ever encoutered this type of problem would be greatly appreciated.

  2. i would contact the company you bought it from & see what they say, if it was blown it wouldnt wk, & these bulbs shouldnt lose there brightness that quick.

  3. I have had bulbs overheat and then lose a lot of light intensity. When I took the bulb out of the reflector and looked at it I could see one of the metal rods on the inside was completely deformed. I brought it to the hydro-store where I bought it and they replaced it under warranty even though they said it was from overheating.

Both bulbs that overheated happened when my A/C went out while I was out of town. The lights were running 24 hours a day for 3 days. My min/max thermometer showed the high as 141!!! I'm lucky the house didn't burn down and even more lucky 1/2 the plants somehow survived.

  4. Well the light is not coming on at all now so im just gone to call the company and try to find the cheapest way to keep my babies from stretching, it is a short plant grow so it is very important to keep them on the short side.
