So i have decided to grow but i have one problem, im only at my house every second week. I spend one week at home and one week away for work. I can come back to the house about 2 times a week, 3 at the most. I was wondering if after my plants were done veging and i put them onto the flowering cycle could i leave the light on for about 2 days then turn it off for a whole day and turn it back on for another day or something like that? how long is the longest that a plant can go without light during flowering? If that didnt work is there any other way to make them flower without constantly turning the lights on and off? thanks in advance
First off bro, you definitely need to invest in a light timer, which will turn the lights on and off for you, while also keeping pinpoint accurate light schedules ;-) Any unusual fluctuations in lighting can trigger a hermie plant, so you definitely need the light timer. As far as coming by to check on the plants, 2-3 times in a week will be fine with a soil grow, but I hear hydro grows require daily checking. You're probably going to be watering about once every few days anyways. So as long as you check on them that often, you'll be just fine Do you have a plan in order as far as what materials you're going to be working with?
If that is your case your best bet will be to get a timer. Completely worth it in your situation and they are inexpensive. Flowering is 12/12 for a reason. If it gets too much light, it will revert back to its vegging state. If you keep the light off too long and it is moist, it will lead to mold problems. TO answer your last question I've had my flowing plant without light for almost up to 2 days before but my soil had a lot of water retention and I got rid of the mold once it started showing. Any longer and it could have been bad.
