I got too aggressive with my Fluroscent lights and kept them only 4 inches above the canopy. I only have 4 plants, and the fastest grower of the group (1" taller than the others, 3.5" at the time) was badly burned before I realized what I did. The other plants had minor burns but have since recovered and look healthy. The former leader is not looking so good. Its leaves are still wrinkled and drooping downwards. The color is still green however. But its been a week and the plant is just not making any progress while the others are all flourishing. Is this a time to actually cut the top (dried out) leaves, and hope the leaves down below in better condition help turn the plant around?
Leave it alone. Badly burned growth will always look badly burned. The leaves do not heal and regreen if sufficiently damaged. Let the plant grow some new leaves and recover a bit before you start trimming. It can take a week or two for the plant to start really producing new growth again. Basically, think about how long it takes you to recover from a bad sunburn compared to a light one.
