I just finished my second grow and each time the buds have been really light and airy. I'm getting a little less then 1oz from each plant. Its White Russian. placed them into 12/12 after they were vegged to 16inches. Under a 600 watt lamp. Their in a 3 Gallon pot filled with pro-mix HP. fed Fox Farm nutes. What can I do to get the density up....I heard about Gravity but is there anything else.
The most common reasons for airy buds is not enought light and harvesting too early. If you know your giving your plants enough light(atleast 5000 lumens per plant) than you probably need a magnifying glass to read the trichomes a little better. Nutrients can increase potency, taste, smell, and appearance but if your not seeing other side effects like deficiencys than this probably is not the reason. My suggestion would be to post the specs of your light setup(ballast, reflector, bulb) and also the dimensions of your grow space. I should be able to better help you then.

well, then it might just be the strain's genetics, quite a few of the white varieties are known to be a little flimsy on the buds (but their leaves make for great qwiso )... have you tried any other strains in there? How long/big do you veg before flower?
I grew Electric Fruit Punch but that just wasnt that good of a strain. I veg until around 16inches so usually 5 weeks in 24/7. Would it help if I used 5 gal buckets over 3 gal?
try introducing CO2. 3 gallons is plenty big enough i'd say. Do you check ph of run off water?? perhaps you have some sneaky nutrient lock up in the soil you have not addressed. like others, i would suggest another strain to solidify your feelings. if the new grow is airy, then you know it is your set-up.
any strain that is more than 50% indica should be somehwat dense, try finding pure indicas....william wonder is one of my favorites. has a yellowish tinge if done correctly too. but, william wonder has many varieties/hybrids with sativa, so be careful. eg, wonderberry. white widow is a common but solid indica. certain cough strains are reeeealy dense. yukon gold, matanuskan thunderfuck, even trainwreck are all very dense buds. but hey, insufficient lgihting or poor conditions can change the densest of strains to fluff.
my personal favourite is sensi seeds' Shiva Skunk (NL#5xSK#1)... a nice robust strain with high yield and a great smoke actually most strains with skunk in them tend to get pretty fat around the budz i.e. Jack Flash or BigBud
