Hey guys, I've had my LSV for a couple days now, and I feel like it's not getting hot enough. I can use either the transfer wand or the short WPA, and I cannot combust. If I turn it on full power for 5 minutes and then slowly (very slowly) start to inhale, I can lightly brown the bud, but I am nowhere close to dark brown or black. I realize that combusting is bad, but I at least want to know that I am able to. I hear people are able to combust when their dial is set to noon or 2 o'clock, and I'm not even able to combust at max temp! The ceramic heating element is pulled out past the "-" written on it, and the heater cover is pushed up against the screws. I own a mflb and can get huge hits out of that, so I know that my draw speed is slow enough to coax vapor out. My LSV feels like it's not hot enough, so if I pull off the dial and twist the "sweet spot" around, will that do anything? Or should I do something else?

I had the exact same thing happen to me. No, don't readjust the dial. This is TOTALLY wrong. For one thing, it is NOT broken. The heater either works or it doesn't work. Secondly, hitting a vaporizer harder will make it cooler, not hotter. Stay tuned, max. I'll dig up the adjustments you need to make. Easy fix.........
Ok, here it is, an easy adjustment. First off, TURN OFF YOUR LSV and let it cool down. Secondly, take off the glass heater cover. Do this gently by slowly twisting and pulling it off. Next, follow these instructions that were provided to me directly from Chris at 7th Floor: "I will provide you instructions on how to keep the heater element in place, but keep in mind, you could pull or cross wires which would render the unit broken and you would have to send it to us for repairs. It sounds like you need to keep the heater element in place and this could fix all your problems. Pull the heating element up gently and hold the cap and shim down, to prevent the cap and shim from being pulled out. On the side of the heating element, close to the bottom as it is coming out of the cap, you will see the letters "STD-". Pull the heating element out til you see the dash and then slightly twist. Slightly twist. This should hold the heating element in place." -----Chris (7th Floor) Here is a pic of the heating element to help ya out: After you make the heating element adjustment, put the glass heater cover back on and make sure that you push it down till the bottom is resting on those 3 screws. Pls report back as to how it is now. Should be running a LOT hotter after making these minor adjustments.
First off old man. Please calm your self and stop tryin to sound all superior. There's no need for CAPS on shit like "TOTALLY WRONG" Obviously i did not know if it was broken hence i said it "sounds" broken so actually your wrong because I never said it was in fact broken I was giving him that tip because when i bought my arizer solo i hit it super slow and never got a good hit and herb wouldn't change color very much at ALL So i hit it harder and what do you know more vapor. I know this isn't the solo but giving him this tip to try won't Damage the lsv or cause any harm to the user. So please step down from the high horse your on. Thank you and have a good day eace:
Meh, I would say lwien was just trying to emphasize its not worth returning (unless he's exhausted all options) not trying to outright bash anyone. *walks on eggshells*
Yeah, that, plus this is not necessarily an uncommon occurrence with new LSV's and I didn't want others who may be experiencing the same thing to read this and assume that their vape is broken and be without out it for a few weeks when they send it in to 7th Floor for warranty repair, or worse, to just put up with a cold running vape. The caps that I used was not meant to bash anyone, but rather to emphasize what is really going on. Seems like I got RubberUndies undies a bit bunched up. Sorry man, didn't mean to do that but for the record, when you call me an "old man", I take that as a compliment. Believe me, it's not easy and takes some work to get to this age. I'm kinda proud of it.
Lol ok ok i might of got a little worked up. Got like 2 hours of sleep and been up since 3:40am For some reason it just really sounded like you were talking as a no it all when i read it this morning. And there has been an uprising in trolls and all around ignorant people lately in grass city. So i was quicker to jump the gun i guess Haha My bad lwien we cool ? :smokin:
Lol even though i just did what your talking about id like to also agree with you. Also the troll count and mis-information (mainly in the newbie smoker section) have been on the uprise as well.... AND the threads don't seem AS lively as they once were Rubba MothaFukin Undies
They worked well! I pulled the heater out a little farther and it seemed to heat up a little more, I got a tiny bit of combustion after hitting for a while. How fast does it take you to combust though? A while, or is it very fast?
Combustion occurs for me when the dial is set any higher than 2:00 with a medium draw and can begin to happen on the very first hit. Glad it worked out for ya.
Wow, first hit? Mine is definitely not as hot as yours lol, even on full blast it takes it a while to combust, like 7 or 8 hits on a medium draw. Meh, still gets me pretty high, I'll tinker around with it some more. Do you think adding an extra screen or somehow making the heater cover air hole smaller will help? I heard that the airflow rate has alot to do with how hot the thing is, so my hypothesis is that by limiting the airflow, it should make the air flowing over the bud hotter.
Ok, gotta few questions regarding having to take 7 to 8 hits to combust on a medium draw. Are you using the transfer wand or the WPA and if you are using the WPA, which one are you using, the shorty, the long or the fatty.........and, how much are you loading up in the bowl, how fine are you grinding your bud and how dry is it. All of this affects the combustion point.
Only once or twice as I was fine tuning my draw, temp settings and load amount. Now, with a very small load in a shorty WPA with the dial set at 1:00 and a medium draw, I get my ABV to a VERY dark brown without any combustion whatsoever.
I'm glad those tips did something OP. Iwien I actually meant to thank you earlier - Id seen you post that a while ago and I messed with my heater to see if it made a difference. While my LSV was hot enough to my liking, that tip definitely improved it - so thanks =). OP, I would focus a bit less on combustion though. I know you want it to be able to reach just under those temps, but seemingly it can now. To be fair, I've never combusted in my LSV, I just know temps I -think- would combust my bud. I can scorch it (turn it dark brown too quickly with a rotten taste - not combustion though) around 2-3 with a slow pull, but Ill go to those temps with the purpose of inhaling fast to get huge rips. At what temp do you find you can comfortably finish a bowl to an even medium-dark brown? Also, how well grinded is your bud? Its worth mentioning I find I need much higher temps with the WPA than I do with my transfer wand or 18mm WPA.
