Hey guys I have a plan. I'm gonna leave home for a while and go out of state where it's warm for about a month and a half and once I get back school will be starting back up again but there's a catch. I'm going out there with basically no money and just the clothes on my back. I realize that I'm probably gonna be homeless for that time period and I've accepted that. What do you guys think of this plan? I'm just doing it for the experience, good or bad.
I dunno man, here in oz the homeless people get treated like shit! It'll be pretty dangerous at night aswell. Might be a good experience though Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
If you want to, man. I've done it (though it wasn't really my intention), and while you might have a bad time, it will probably be a hell of an experience and you'll have a lot of interesting stories.
I was homeless because I did the exact same thing. Born and raised in British Columbia, went to Alberta. During night some crackhead rushed me with a used aids needle, but I over powered him and didn't get stabbed. Experience was fantastic, just really dangerous at night. Lucky you don't have -20 weather to deal with. Homeless people will stab you for your stuff/a warm spot. Don't be fooled, tons of homeless people get murdered a day, media just never shows it and the city usually removes the body before people wake up and see it. If possible, stay out of downtown main cities and if at the coast, try to find a nice beach with showers/toilets and sinks.
Where do you plan on sleeping? You should go, I promise you if you don't have anywhere to sleep you will return back home the next day. You have never been homeless!
I'm all for the pursuit of experience -- best thing you can do for yourself. But why not save a bit of dough and go backpacking instead? You could live on the beach for months in a place like Thailand or Guatemala on less than a grand. Regardless, check out couchsurfing.org as a traveler looking for accommodation. If you're not an axe murderer, someone will put you up for a night or two. Just remember that its not a handout; its a community of people sharing. One love, yo.
that doesn't seem like a well thought out plan, man... but, shit, I am the first one to throw caution to the wind. good luck
