  1. Lately, I've been trying to find new music. I've been listening to the same ol' same. Wiz Khalifa, Led Zeppelin, UGK, Pink Floyd, Phish, Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse, etc. But I wanted something new, so I "found" a new genre, called Glo Fi. That, and Chillwave. They're 2 emerging Genres(I believe) and I love the sound.
Bands such as Neon Indian, Monogold, Unouomedude, Blackbird Blackbird, Therapies Son, and even a band named Reefer!
Theres a lot of lesser known genres emerging, whole new genres being made.
Some other good ones are Here We Go Magic, Gypsyblood, Metaform, Skinny Shamans, Shakey Graves, Trebles and Blues, TV Girl, Washed Out, and Wavves.
Not all of them are Glo-Fi/Chillwave, but I have no idea what to classify them as..
But tell me what you think GC, I'd love to hear your views.:D

  6. been listening to chillwave for awhile I guess, sort of picked it up after taking a break from listening to a lot of 1'st and 2'nd wave shoegaze, i guess they sort of go hand and hand. i've seen neon indian live and they were fantastic. wavves live was also good. glad to see real music in ALL forms is still alive and kicking. :p

  7. That's awesome. I'd love to see Neon Indian live, they're one of my favorites, and the first that got me into the genre.
I've been wanting to learn about the whole Shoegaze thing, but I havn't heard much. Care to enlighten?

  8. mhmm. :)

shoegaze/ethereal wave is basically cut into two categories, 1'st and 2'nd wave (nu gaze).
1'st being the sort of pioneers of the genre so mid 80's- early/mid 90's. bands like slowdive (my fav.), ride, cocteau twins, etc...

here's a mix of some of my favorite 1'st and 2'nd wave shoegaze artists, hope this helps.

not really shoegaze, but pretty fucking close. seen these guys live also. the keyboardist was chugging beers all night and the lead singer's pupils were the size of saucers, really good show.

if you click my sig i have a thread that i update pretty often with what i'm listening to. it's mostly hip hop and underground but occasionally some nugaze or something random pops up so take a look.

    cheers!
