More specifically, I run 18/6 for veg and 12/12 for flower with no attempt to graduate the spectrum. When I was working with CFL as opposed to LED I would flower at 2700 k thru 4100 k and veg between 5000 k thru 6500 k (same light cycles).
got to watch out for them donor plants, man just one seed will ruin your day hahahha, i had some brandywine tomato plants about 4 years ago that i thought i had pulled them all , nope the scraps from the house i buried out there just popped up new ones hahah. they are great tomatoes but i cant stand the way they grow hahah, every spring i find donors of some type of tomato , usually right were i want to plant
Yeah, that’s how the first one showed up. Right out of the corner if that bed. Perfect location so it got to stay. So, if I run these tomatoes in flower room that get a typical repetitive cannabis cycle of 9 weeks of 12/12 and 3 weeks of 18/6 will it mess them up? I didn’t seem to have an effect on the one I’ve previously grown.
id say no , why, because i think and just my opinion that with tomato's i believe that production is more stemed from soil temps than lights cycle what you need to do is start your plants in solo cups and when the roots come out the bottom plant them in your veg room, then rotate them out with your medicine i say that because it seem to take forever , it seem , to get them from a seed to a good seedling standing around 5 to 6 inch tall , so if you can master the cycle there you cant go wrong, it might just be my seedling mix, , best time to put them into soil is when the stalk is just short of the size of a number 2 pencil and stand about 5 or 6 inchs tall, then the bad boys will rock on pretty quick. tomato will grow in just UV rays, man i love when it clouds up for a week or so, the things will pop out flowers every were, so i dont think your light cycles will matter but soil temp will , that should already be checked with your normal room or green house temps
I had to switch up my grow and have been growing dwarf tomatoes for a year in my weed tents. For almost a year my plants presented all the common nutrient deficiency symptoms. Foilar feeding correct it for a couple of weeks then back to M, C, Z, P deficiency symptoms. I fixed it, 100% with a simple change in watering- I water every day now, thats it. I suspect that watering every other day (plants are in 7 and 10 gallon bags) allowed the soil to dry out to the point the root system could not extract enough dissolved nutrients to support the plant. Within weeks of watering everyday I had vigorous new green growth and flowers out a the wazzoo. THe flowers set fruit and dont fall off any longer and I actually use LESS water than I did with every other day watering. My pots stay pretty heavy now and I dont allow them to get even slightly dry. Soon enough I will be starting a grow and will NEVER dry cycle my plant in the growth or flower stage. Hopes this helps someone growing tomatoes indoors that present with nutrient deficiency like mine did. Side note- some of these plants that recovered are over a year old.
Santa Rosa Plums, cherry and mini roma tomato's and strawberries. Can't remember what the big tomato's were & tommy tomato's.
Nice harvest @Digga. I love seeing this when there's still snow on the ground outside my window. It makes me look forward to my outdoor growing season.
