Lets Make a Seed Scuffer !

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by op8man, Feb 15, 2007.

  1. Many times when you purchase seeds or obtain them , they are good seeds and will germinate. Many times though there will be as many as 25% that will not germinate but were good seeds. If they are slightly immature, the casing may be too hard to crack open. This is where scuffing comes in. By slightly scuffing the outer casing it will increase your germinating percentage. Doing it one at a time is not recommended and you can easily do more damage than good. Its next to impossible to hold them in your fingers and this way you can do as many as you want (all at once)By making this simple device you can do it easily and safely. Just place the seeds in it and give it a few mild shakes (more shakes for more seeds) and continue with your normal germinating procedure. Its simple and will last forever.

    ITEMS NEEDED:

Altoid Container (available at every Minimart checkout or candy area)
3/4 inch wide roll of double sided tape
    Scissors
    Ruler
    150-200 Grit Sandpaper

    STEP 1:

Trace the containers outline on the paper side of the sandpaper twice (once for cover and once for the bottom.

    STEP 2:

Measure and draw a line along the straight edge of the sandpaper at 3/4 of an inch (same width as the double sided tape) and cut a piece that is 3/4" x 8 1/2".

    STEP 3:

Cut out all three pieces ,making sure you cut your circles smaller than your outline so it will fit firmly into the top and bottom of the container.

    STEP 4:

Cut three pieces of double sided tape to fit in the bottom of the container and then three pieces to fit in the top as shown in picture. Lastly cut a piece approximately 8 1/2" long and this will go all around the inside wall. The width of the tape is perfect so will not require and trimming.

    STEP 5:

Remove protective covering on tape and press round cut piece of sandpaper in the top and bottom pressing firmly. Try to be as accurate with your cutting as possible so the edges of the paper leaves no gap for seeds to catch in. If gaps are present then you can fill this with a hot glue gun or similiar. If cut accurately and with care this will not be needed.

    STEP 6:

Now take strip you cut of sandpaper that is 8 1/2" and press it into the inside wall of the container. By doing this first it will mke the chance of gaps less.

    STEP 7:

Now Press the round pieces of sandpaper into the cover and the bottom pressing firmly. Check for gaps (don't want seeds catching) repair if needed.

You now have a seed scuffer that will last forever and that will increase your germination percentage. Just a few shakes is all that is needed. You don't need to act like your jacking off......be gentle, you dont want to ruin you beans. (really hard to do unless your trying)

Because only 5 pictures are able to be uploaded, I will upload the remainder in the next box
