This game was the first rpg I ever played and still remains one of my favorites. I got stoned this morning and almost played through the entire game. Now with my eyes bleeding, I have to ask does anyone else remember this old playstation relic?
Playstation? That shit is genuine SNES son. Honestly though, not one of my favorite RPG's. I enjoyed the graphics, the sound effects were decent for what was available at the time, and the story was pretty cool too. I never enjoyed the battle system, especially the ring Menus and the AI, but also the Zelda feel was kind of a rip off rather than a re-invention. I also didn't enjoy the limited inventory system or the lack of interesting items to find in the game. I have played the game several times and usually set the sticks down around 80% of the way in after losing interest needing to level up, although I have beaten it two or three times myself. Honestly, I think the best RPG to date has to be Chrono Cross. I enjoyed just about everything about that game and the freedom with the story line, and the 50 some odd characters give the game a kind of replayability which never existed prior to that. While on SNES Chrono Trigger is definitely a favorite, along with FF2(US), and Earthbound, the Secret of Mana is probably down around my 5th favorite RPG on that system, and might barely find a spot in my all time top 10 across all systems. For myself it goes: Chrono Cross, FFX, Chrono Trigger, FF2, FF7, Fallout, Earthbound, Breath of Fire 2, LOZ: Ocarina of Time, Secret of Mana or maybe Illusion of Gaia (they are about the same to me). What is it you like about that game so much? The story is so damn linear. It's like FF13 without the CG. Walk here, get this, walk there, get that. Blast off in a cannon. I just don't get it.
I think you're thinking of SECRET of mana SCMC....not LEGEND of mana...but secret was still fun as fuck too..if not hard as nails at some points..
