legality of the plant in Alaska?

Discussion in 'Marijuana Legalization' started by urn man, Aug 23, 2010.

  1. I was on NORML and saw that you could have up to 25 plants in your home?

Possession of less than 25 plants is protected under the Alaska Constitution's right to privacy (See Ravin v. Alaska). Possession of 25 or more marijuana plants is “Misconduct involving a controlled substance in the fourth degree” and is punishable by a fine of up to $50,000 or five years in prison.

    Alaska - NORML

Just wondering what the word was with this, and was hoping any AK smokers could explain how it goes.

  2. Also its legal to have a ounce in your house.

You guys realize that means weeds legal in alaska?

  3. marijuana is not legal in alaska, they just cant prosecute you for having it inside your home. its pretty close but still isnt legalization

  4. so how does this work?

"Sale, delivery or manufacture of marijuana of less than one ounce is a misdemeanor and is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $5,000. For amounts of one ounce or greater, the crime is a felony which can be punished with a sentence of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000."

You can have less than 25 marijuana plants as long as they dont produce marijuana?

  5. so you can grow and smoke in your house, and non fed's cant touch ya?

  6. Alaska police will charge you with a misdemeanor half of the time if they catch you with it, sometimes they make you flip and give up your dealer. However it is not on their priority list to go after cannabis users/dealers, just don't get caught and they can't touch you. We have a huge meth problem up here and obviously the cops link cannabis dealers with meth dealers and unfortunately their logic is correct most of the time. Hopefully california will legalize and alaska will soon follow because most of the alaska population(seniors are a majority) are eager to legalize.
