Great article in Creative Loafing showing the gaining momentum and coverage for legal Marijuana in Georgia. NORML.ORG US GA: Legal Weed Coming To Georgia? Norml has been spreading throughout the Georgia colleges as well as the Atlanta intellectual, activist.
That it would, I have come into contact with more and more Georgia activists voting in favor of legalizing marijuana. Atlanta Norml is gaining members and political coverage by the day. West GA college has a thriving Norml chapter that meets regularly planning events and petitions for reforem. UGA Norml has worked to decriminalize marijuana in Athens, bring medical cannabis to the state of GA, with an eventual successful goal of complete Georgia marijuana legalization. Marijuana has gained societal integration and acceptance in Georgia culture. It is only a matter ot time before we reach the goal of Georgia marijuana legalization through the reformation of law. I have just contacted Norml about having fundraising dinners for marijuana legalization, Atlanta and Athens could host such events in the future.
No offense guys, but don't hold your breath. You do realize you live in the most conservative part of the country right?
I just got a reply back from Saxby Chambliss - he's not exactly supportive of reform. Maybe it's time for more people to write to him?
I don't expect anything to happen in the near future but it's just great things are stepping in a positive direction. Just need more people to step forward and get active cause even republicans smoke even if they don't wanna admit it.
Not true, both surrounding states Florida and Alabama nearly legalized in medical marijuana in the last year (every year is only a step closer to the ultimate goal of federal marijuana legalization). Marijuana legalization is a conservative agenda. Conservatives are hugely in favor of crops that will stabilize our economy. Marijuana is a crop that will bring power to the economy. Also the statement about GA being a conservative state is utterly false. Progressive democrats have a long lasting history in the state. Atlanta and Athens are both liberal/democratic towns. These two towns are the majority of GA media coverage, as well as population and votes. Marijuana smoking is very acceptable in Athens where it has been decriminalized. Expect the change sooner then later for Marijuana legalization in Georgia.
The Bible Belt isn't the most conservative part of the country? Right. As far as marijuana legalization being a conservative agenda you're completely wrong. You truly think many Republicans want Marijuana legalized? Legalization isn't going to happen in Georgia anytime soon. You're talking about CITIES that have decriminalized marijuana, there are many STATES that have already decriminalized who don't even have MMJ programs. California, Oregon, Colorado, Washington, and Massachusetts are all way ahead of on the way to legalization. I am willing to bet my left testicle that Georgia will not legalize marijuana before any of them.
This is a forum only in favor of marijuana legalization. A plant which causes no harm like other drugs.
this plant also comes down to personal choice. that being said i to am in favor of legalizing all drugs simply on the basis that i should be able to do and or put whatever i want into my body.
There is no argument. I told you the facts of this forum. We are a forum dedicated to marijuana legalization only. We want nothing to do with drugs that are not farmer crops grown by the average American. Many in the bible belt are becoming in favor of marijuana legalization. Here is one of many sites showing the bible and its support for marijuana legalization. Marijuana and the Bible
Well even though you don't (nor do I) it is still good that things like this exist because many people who are religious find marijuana to be a sin. In any form.
NORML is a good organisation and the grass roots effort in Georgia is coming along. Many Georgia activists are finding Georgia For Cannabis is a new dynamic organisation that is growing fast and very active. They have the legislation written for legal medical marijuana to be introduced in the next legislative session (If we can find a sponsor...) Check us out. Georgia For Cannabis
