Legal issues - South Africa

  1. I grow 4 plants each year. Last year was my first crop grown just after the decriminisation of weed on South Africa.

I run a place of safety for abused, neglected children and recently I have had a family and police accusing me of having a young boy that is a missing person from a town nearby. I have cooperated with the fuzz as having runaway children coming to us is not unusual but they are always presented to the court before 48 hours have lapsed and a report is always made with the police the day of them arriving.

Obviously I have not seen this boy and was attending meeting 200km away the day he went missing.

I have noted that our police continue to arrest people for weed claiming that the 4 jars that I produce is worth R5 million, about $300k. They also claim that such a quantity means that it is being sold and as weed is only legal when cultivated by you and used in your private home, otherwise it is a violation of the law.

Two nights ago at 1 am police arrived at my house, assault rifles in hand, face masks, the whole shit. They were screeming at me to hand over the missing child and demanding access to my property. I refused them access as they did not have a warrant.

Now I am worrying, do I destroy my crop and my stockpile before the fuzz get a damn warrant or do I take my chance? I did today kull my crop from 5 healthy plants to 4 but I feel that it would be a heartbreak for me to have to get rid of them all, forcing me to break the law and buy weed from a dealer.

I am also concerned that if they do a search, find my weed and take it into evidence, this could form part of a court docket , even if I am not charged. This will open up my highly personal weed use to public scrutiny and as I work in charity, this could have a reputation effect on the charity.

Any suggestions here would be much appreciated

  2. Kill the weed now. Grow later when it's blown over.

  3. I outdoor grow, I will not be able to until at least August. Fuck the police man, it is such bullshit that I have to hide a 100% legal substance.

I was thinking of asking a lawyer to write a letter that they advised me that I am growing within the bounds of the law.

I did, Last year invite the local police to inspect my grow area, my storage and asked their advise on anything. They were happy with 4 plants and even gave me some seeds that they had confiscated.

The police in this case are not local, they are from another town.

  5. Would it be possible to remove the weed from the ground into pots and relocate it to my mom's house?
