I would love some help community. I went out of town on Friday and came home today and my plants have gone to shit. A little background info- the broke ground July 25. They are planted in FFOF with wormcastings mixed in. Ive been following the fox farm schedule but not at full strength. They get watered twice a week nutes on Sunday regular water mid week. Please tell me where I'm screwing up. Thanks
Hello friend I'm not to sure but could be nute burn, thoughs are only in tiny pots so you would only be needing the smallest amount of nutrients. Do you feed every water? Also when did u water last? They are looking droopy could be overwatered or underwatered so if u hadn't given them any water in past couple of days I'd give them some now. I find it's best to not stick to a watering routine and just give it to them when I see the leafs starting to droop and soil drys a couple of cm down. But do what works for you
I'm starting to think it's nute burn. The last time I watered them was Thursday. Then when I got home they looked like death so I watered them. I don't think its overwatering, I tend to let the pots get pretty dried out. I don't use full strength nutes but I do follow the fox farm schedule. I'm transplanting soon by waiting on the smart bags I ordered. I don't really have a watering schedule when It comes to watering just with the nutes
No worries man well my advice would be just get them transplanted into the bigger pot with some new soil and just go a bit easyier on the nutes and it should be fine. And yeah I find if I over water they are usually only droopy for a day or so
FFOF has quite a bit of nutes built into the soil off the bat. I think you started feeding to early. I grow with FFOF but I cut it with 50% coco core and i still don't have to feed for the first 2 weeks. Looks like nute burn to me. Flush and water until the plants TELL you they need nutes. And whe I do start feeding I only feed 1/2 strength and then only feed every other watering. I use FF Big Bloom, Grow Big and Tiger Bloom. And yes my plants do talk to me
Hey I thought I would throw caution to the wind and follow there nuts schedule, should have know better. When you say 1/2 strength every other watering do you mean every second watering They get nutes. I guess what I'm wondering is how frequently your feeding with nutes- once a week or every other week. Thanks
My plants need to be watered about every 3 days. I feed every other watering, and water with straight water between feedings. I just watch my plants, if I see the tips of the leaves turning brown I just give them straight water. If I see them getting a little pale (like a nitrogen defficieny) I will feed them. I don't follow a strict feeding schedule really. I am a cronic UNDER-feeder. I think plants will suffer more from over feeding then they will under feeding. When I do feed I use 2 TBS/gallon of Big Bloom (the all organic stuff) and 1TSP either Grow Big or Tiger Bloom per gallon (depending on if I am in veg or bloom) So I guess to answer your question I feed my plants about once a week, typically.
You might want to think about repotting into a different mix. I find straight potting soils tend to be a bit "heavy" and take to long to dry out. I use 50% coco core, 40% FFOF, 5% course sand and 5% perlite. I also like to add 1/2 cup per gallon of mix fine, powdered dolomite lime, help prevent PH problems. Mix it all really well then put it in your pots. I like to water my pots with 2TBS molasses per gallon of water then let the pots sit for a couple of days before I transplant into them. Just my method, never met a grower who didnt have some wierd ritual they swore by. This mix has worked great for me. hard to over water with the coco core and the soil helps maintain moisture.
To be honest with you they were doing really well for the fist two weeks then one started showing nitrogen claw around mid last week. I really think I started nutes too soon (even thought I started with 1/4 strength.) I'm thinking dolomite would do me some good.
