So I was planning on doing a micro grow but my girlfriend finally agreed to let me get a grow tent so when that arrives in a week I’ll be moving my seedlings into a 24x24x48 inch tent.
The are currently sprouting in a cabinet with about 18x18x27 inches of space under a VIPARSPECTRA 450W.

I’ll try to update as I go so anyone looking into the viparspectra 450w can see what to expect in a small grow tent.
So far I’ve germinated 5 bag seeds all of which cracked and are now in red solo cups.
3 of 5 have now sprouted and I’m hoping the others show up soon.
The plan is to top these plants at the third node and try to keep them about 2 feet tall max at harvest so nice and bushy.

Still waiting on the inline fans and ducting for them, they should get here next week.
So my seedlings went into the tent as soon as I got it set up with the light and a table fan.
    So far so good

  5. I’m really liking the little viewing flap too.
I should be able to keep a close eye on my girls this way.
Still just 3 sprouts but the tent is small so that should be plenty

  6. I really wish you would have considered an alternative from Burple though. It’s a bit more pricey but ur doubling ur yield. Here’s my LED buds. [IMG]

image.jpg My light has more red spectrum too I’m just going easy on my seedlings until week 2. Between days 15-20 I’ll turn on both veg and bloom switches

I’m calling the day I started germination day 1
My micro cabinet was running hot at around 85 so I’m hoping with the bigger space to get it down around 80.
Once my fans and ducts arrive next week it’ll be easier to just open the window and suck some nice cool air into the tent but for now I’ve just got a table fan in there with the doors open during the day.

  11. Viparspectras are known to veg well but they don’t Flower well at all. They have too much blue and not enough red in the spectrum. If you can supplement some extra red, might go a long way to add to your yield

  12. Any recommendations on what to add to get more red spectrum? I’m in a 2x2x4H which isn’t much space that’s why I thought the viparspectra would be enough.
200w actual draw in 4sqft is 50w/sqft which isn’t bad.

  13. I was thinking of maybe putting 1-2 CFLs, if I did what light would best make up for my weaker red light.

  14. 2700k

  15. Do you think I should get 1 or 2 of these ?

  16. Power wise that’s great. It’s just spectrum. If you can fit a cheap red ufo or a few of these

  17. Bigger cfls, They put off a crap ton of heat. Will be hard to keep tent cool. U can get 4 packs of 2700k cfl 60w equivalent for 10$

  18. I agree a Red spectrum UFO would be great and added watts for better harvest

Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum

  19. I have a window right above the tent and I’ll be running 3 fans as soon as the other 2 arrive in the mail so I’m not too concerned with heat.
Maybe use 2x 2700k CFLs but smaller 55W ones? Would that be overkill in my small space?
Or should I go with 1-2 red UFO?

I don’t really need to make up my mind for another couple weeks because I’ll be vegging for another 3-4 weeks so I don’t want to rush this decision.
If anyone has experience using the viparspectra 450 on its own or supplemented by either some CFLs or RED UFOs please let me know how everything went for you

  20. Y is ur veg light so red.. shouldnt it be more blue and more red-er when bloom is on??
