Greetings. I'm getting into growing with 125W CFL lighting with plants close to the light, horizonal SOG either side of the bulb. - And the yield is ok for me. But that's another story. -

I'd like to keep a small mother plant in a small cupboard so I can avoid keeping germinating seeds. The plan is to take (for a SOG) 8 cuttings from the mother every 6 weeks and put them straight in to the flowering chamber. So this would give me a small harvest every 6 weeks. So I just need a small mother which will start to look like a little Bonsai after a while. I'm wondering if I'll be able to do this without installing fans in the cupboard if I open the doors every day to change the air. The plant doesn't have to be great, just alive enough to give me 6-8 new seedlings every 6-7 weeks. These are the possible lights I have in mind:

    or

The question is: Are they going to generate any significant heat ?

    Thanks.

  2. No, those LED's will not generate any heat significant enough to interrupt your grow.

  3. Fantastic :) What a wonderful invention. Thanks.

  4. I would be very skeptical of the led panels you have listed. If nothing else go look at the results from a completed grow journal using led's.

  5. I'm not expecting anything more than them keeping the plants alive and growing a bit. - Just a few new little branches to make seedlings from - Nothing more. I've ordered one now so I'll update this thread when I've got the results. ( I ordered this one:

  6. good luck and keep us posted.

  7. Just wired up the light. It's only 8Watts but when I plugged it in my girlfriend gasped because it was pointing in her face. When I turned it round I realised why. That light is Bright with a capital B ! Let's see what happens with a cutting. :)

  8. Well here we are 2 weeks later. Attached is a pic of the cutting. It looks very happy. I think I'll buy myself a little 11W CFL 2500k for growing cuttings though. The reason is simply that ventilation is necessary in any case so I think the small heat created by the CFL wont be a problem. The LED light is a mix of blue and red and really I only want the blue. - But the plant does seem happy growing under that light. There's a pic in this thread :

  9. That LED light was fine for getting the seedlings up into the light, but after a week or so the plant grew too tall and thin and now needs to be supported by a stick. So it seems the LED is really weak. I've moved the seedling to go under a 20W CFL now which is much brighter. The 8W LED is destined for the dustbin. It was too weak.
