Leds/aeroponics sorting through the gibberish

  1. *Ehhem* So yes been gone a while back now and dreaming up a new grow. Leds are sexy and no one has any idea what to do with them. Aeroponics are equally sexy and an equally dark area so i'm going to try and get a think tank started so we can hammer some of this stuff out and make heads or tails out of it.

    I want to use this

    and these

    to make this happen

First thing we need to do is to get the numbers right. Does anyone have any idea how many square feet that guys screen is? Could someone with a screen about the size of that give me the numbers so i can crunch them and find the square feet? I have a 16x21 inch main grow bin. how many plants could i support under scrog grow running a pure hydro system? Aero isn't the same but it's close and that should work for calculations.

Once we figure that out i can use their formula to calculate just how many lights i'd need(+ a few more because i don't belive them lol) and figure out the total cost. which will be high but after you take into account all the heat and power i'm not going to have to deal with that number shouldn't look to bad. Also once i get this figured up and working it will be magical.

the 5 Problems with growing(and red flags for dea)
    Smell
    Heat*
    Power*
    Ventilation*
    Being a dumbass(no cure)

3 out of 5 taken care of. I will still have a vent system but i wont need a gigawat fan rumbling my house around to get rid of heat. only reason for vent is for fresh air and smell.

And yes all this is a bit much but once i get the hang of it all will be well and i wont have to worry about my house burning down or taking on a huge power bill from the nasty lights. once i get this aero system worked out the way i have it in my head it wont take much effort to keep it up and running once i get the hang of it and should grow me fistloads of bud. If i can get this hammerd out even on paper it would benefit the whole gc community. Thank you in advanced for any insight.

  2. I have seen other LED posts where they indicate those led lights are worthless for growing the plant. Not sure how I feel either way but at this point (unless you have the money to blow) I would get a 400W or 600W HPS for flowering.

  3. I wont have "money to blow" but i can't have a huge power bill comming out of my apartment. i cant randomly cut holes all over the place and mainly i just want to use all this new tech and see what happens. Might not get squat to grow....corse if this works i'll be leading the way into the future of urban growing and could be a great asset to others that wish to follow behind.

I've seen where a few of the guys tried it but they both made errors that caused it to fail. I'm sure i'll have troubles the first few times i try to use this system but once i get the kinks out and it works? :smoking:

That site has tweaked with it and has new reds up for sale and some random guy is growing craploads of peppers and other rubbish with a traffic light :/ It still might not work but i have to find out (expenses aside) if it can work.

And i'll be running scrog which should cut down on the light expense due to it's compact nature.

If i can get this working i'll produce no heat, no wierd amounts of water used, no noisy fans, no "is that jesus in there? what is that glow?!" and aside from checking up on it the system should take care of itself a good bit. i'll have to move the lights up from time to time but once i get the neuts down and start running some clones i wont really have to pay much attention as long as i replicate what worked before.

  4. Ive seen pictures of people growing bud with those lights. they looked fine but I dont know how they turned out in the end. the red and blue stimulates chlorophyll but theres other light spectums that stimulate substances in the plant as well such as carotene that arent red or blue. I dont know what difference it makes though im no bioligist
