LED vs Ballast for my first grow

    hi tokers, i will be starting to grow my first plant soon and i was wondering what are the difference's between LED lights and a 250w ballast. The plants i will be growing is Super Lemon Haze and Vanilla Kush. also i would like to find out how i could monitor the PH and EC of the soil/plant.

    Hi sheenster, I am growing SLH aswell and after seeing how that plant grows I would say 250 HID all day long, they grow very tall with low leaf to bud ratio so due to how high they grow the light penetration of the HID would easily out weigh the LEDs

    As for monitoring the ec and ph just get yourself a digital ph and ec meter and test you feeding or water solution before feeding your girls

    watt for watt I like LED better but you'll get wildly differing opinions here. A good test would be a 250w HID vs Blackstar 240, since Blackstar is on the cheaper end and there are successfully finished journals for it. Also, Blackstar draws a lot less (actual) then the 250w yet the price is higher than a 250w HID.

    I'll support Led, check my journal, i have two 130w xtreme leds but only used one for the first part of my grow. I'm very happy with the progress so far. but like nrgpill said, its a matter of opinion sometimes.

    How many LED lights would you recon i can fit inside a grow tent? and what nutes should i use for a SLH plant?
