No real update tonight. Just a little bud porn. I studied up on molasses about a week ago, and decided that I would start watering with it from now on. But my LED girls hadn't needed water until last night, so that's when I gave them all molasses @ 1tbsp/gal for the first time. I swear, the Super Skunks look way icier tonight! My wife and son said they thought so too (actually, my son says he's sure of it). So I maxed my camera at 12MB and took a few bud close-ups. Here's one of SS-1. Enjoy!
Thanks, Mad. Glad you made it over to take a look! Well here's the halfway point update - 30 days into flowering. I cleaned out and vacuumed the 12/12 room tonight, so I took these photos while I had the plants out. Sorry, no surreal LED glow this time around!
Damn MX! Looking very, very nice. the LED grow is hyper-impressive. I rate you a '5' on the grow dude. I really respect your leading-edge attempt. It goes to show us grow-for-consumption-only-types what can be done with fewer watts (expense) and just as much TLC. Whatever a +rep is you get a couple from me!
Gosh, Possuum, you made my thread look so good with all those stars! Thanks much. Compared to some other grows on this site, I definitely don't desrve it, but I dig the stars anyway! Did you say "not much TLC"??!! I probably spend 2 to 4 hours a day on those girls, whether I have anything meaningful to do or not. Sometimes, nobody needs water, and there's no clones to pot, and no yunguns to transplant, and I just vacuumed, and the cloner bucket jets aren't plugged - even then, I can still move and rotate pots or take a photo shoot, or figure out something to improve upon. All I can say is this is the coolest hobby ever! And wifey, the pothead she is, is totally on board with all of it as well! I am totally digging life these days!
Hey MX you deserve the stars! Your grow is right on brother. I love your total approach. And to clarify I did say "just as much TLC". Ladies looking that good obviously get the attention they need and they show that you are definitely giving it to them! Nice job. I've seen results of others with really good yielding low wattage grows. That's what I aspire to. The fewest watts I can use to achieve the results that work for me the better. The prize I'm after is good quality and ample supply! Keep on keeping it on.
One word - Beautiful! - Those plants look sick man. Keep up the good work. I hope mine will turn out that nice
Get it right! I'm the Green Bastard, from parts unknown. what are your thoughts on the LEDs? More cost effective than HIDs? How's the light penetration?
Yeh, that was intentional this time (you know why!). Give me another month to draw conclusions. So far, it's looking real good. The 12/12 room has the flouro tubes lighting up the lower growth, so I can't really give all the credit to the LEDs. I have concerns about how well the buds will swell under the LEDs. After a month, the plants I have under my HID are suddenly outdoing the LEDs in that way, but they are diffefent strains. However, my veg room is kicking ass from just the LEDs. I keep the LEDs way high in there because I wanted to slow down growth, since I don't have space in the 12/12 room for them yet. Even so, they are growing very bushy with no stretching at all. I'll take a pic of those and post it here later today.
OK. Here's a couple of shots I just took. I'd have to say that light penetration is excellent! This is a 34" x 34" space that I'm managing to cram 8 of my 3 gal. pots in. The young WW in the middle is a clone that I just recently moved into there. The others have one to one and a half months in there. The seed grown plants in there seem to grow a solid canopy. When I cut a top, it's formed like a bowl, pretty much cutting off all light. The new growth underneath it will be almost a lime green shade, but healthy and lush. There's never a yellow leaf anywhere. Really! But then, a lot of credit for that has to go to my new organic super soil mixture! You can see from the first pic that the leaf canopy is pretty solid, but the second pic shows how healthy the undergrowth is. Please don't bag on the foil walls! I know it's far from ideal. I bought a roll of mylar, but I'm saving it for a veg-room rebuild.
Here are the girls at day 35. If you've been keeping track of the math of my days, you'd probably think this should be day 36. I've gotta come clean - I've been fudging the day count by one, using the date of my post rather than the date of the pictures. I said earlier in the thread that I thought harvest would be around 3/15 based on what I read in one of Rumpleforeskin's posts - that Nirvana White Widow are ready for harvest on day 60. But I went through his first LED challenge today and saw that under LEDs, he harvests at 72 days. So I guess I'll be harvesting round 3/27. I had the girls out of the room again this time to treat them all for fungus gnats with hydrogen-peroxide in the water, so again no LED backlighting. The H2O2 treatment called for letting the soil dry out past normal. I think I went a little too far with the WWs since you can see that their fan leaves are pale and drooping. Hopefully, they'll perk up by tomorrow. Super Skunk #1 Super Skunk #2 White Widow #1 White Widow #2
Hey AllGood. Thanks for joining in. Haven't made it through your journal yet, but I went through your photo gallery. Very impressive!
Thanks for the kind words . I thinks its great that you can grow a variety of strains at once. I would be like kid in a candy store
Day 40 of flowering! If you're only going to zoom one all the way in, check out SS-1's macro bud shot! She's def my fav! Super Skunk #1 Super Skunk #2 White Widow #1 White Widow #2
