LED Bulb

Can anyone knowledgable of such things tell me if this would be a good bulb for growing indoors?

12.8 lumens for $19 does not sound like a good investment to me. CFL's would be a better option.

You would be way better off just getting CFL's & add up actual wattage not equivilant and veg/flower with those.
I''m flowering with 2-126w HGL/LED's, for flowering 4-plants I've had to add an equal amount of CFL's for penetration to get a yield I'm happy with.

Okay, I contacted the seller and here is what they said:

"The chart is confusing because that's lumens per LED. The bulb has 22 LEDs and so the Lumens per square foot for that bulb is 260. We have updated the chart to eliminate the confusion. We have sold over 10,000 of these to various growers and received nothing but positive feedback. Also you have to take into consideration that with these LED bulbs, you can position them 6" above the plant. Compare that to 48" or more of you are running HPS or HID. (Due to the enormous heat generated by HPS and HID they can actually burn your plants if you don't put them fairly far away.) Since the amount of light to the plant is inversely proportional to the square of the distance, the amount of light to the plant is actually many times that of a HPS or HID lamp. Also this bulb just provides the two spectrum the plant actually uses. The lumen figures you see for other light sources are over the full range of light. In other words, it counts light that the plant does not want or need, thus it is just wasted light. In the chart you will see the blue and red peaks. Blue is for plant growth and red is for budding and blooming. The balance of blue to red in these lamps is to promote growth with an emphasis on blooming and budding."

"Here is how it works out: If you have HPS and it's putting out say 40,000 lumens of that amount of light, only a small portion of it is in the blue/red spectrum that the plant actually wants. It's about 10%. So of your 40K lumens, you only have about 4,000 that is useful to the plant. Now take that HPS and move it back 4' away from the plant. You just reduced the light to 1/9th. (1/(4-1)^2) That is assuming the HPS (or other lamp) is rated at 1' from the source (some rate right at the lamp, but we'll assume it's just 1') So you take 4-1 because 4 feet less 1foot equals 3 and you have to square that to get 9. Then inverse it. So its' 1/9 or .11. So now take your 4K lumens of good light and multiply by .11 and you get 440 lumens of good light at the plant. Compare that to just 2 of our LED grow bulbs. That's 520 of good useful light at the plant. Now you know why we don't have complaints. "
