Hello. I am going to get a 80 x 80 x 180cm grow tent and I am planning on growing 4 plants. The strain is AK - 47 to anyone who is wondering. I am planning to veg it short, about 3-4 weeks. I prefer the plants to be small... So I found an LED light (100W) and I measured, it will cover all 4 plants. The LED light is here: 100W 1131Red 234Blue LED Grow Light Plant Growing Lamp Garden Greenhouse Plant Seedling Light And to anyone who is wondering, I cannot get another LED light. I live in South Africa and I cannot ship it from another country and this is the best one I can find.. (Please don't go looking for better LED lights for me. The ones people are suggesting me will cost way over $500 for like 200W).. Okay. So now my question: Will this LED light work for 4 plants..? If it doesn't, will 2 CFL lights help? (24 actual watts). I cannot get a more expensive CFL as they are very expensive and hard to find.. So basically: 4 plants in a 30cm space (1 foot squared). So will a 100W LED, and 2 CFL (in total 48 actual W) work? Can I mix CFLs with LED?
Shoot. I am. I've spent about $100 on all my light. I've got 4 23w cfl's with 4 10w led bulbs with two full spectrum panels about 14w each. So 160w for two plants. They're doin pretty good. You could check them out if you'd like. They are 20 days today and look about twice the size in the pictures I have up lol. those lights look like they wouldnt flower good.. i bet a marshydro 300W would crush that.. i bet those CFLS would crush it.. thats why its $50.. but if you were going to get that light and the CFLS.. i would only do 1 plant.. i read each plant should have at least 100W per plant! to flower good.. and if its a bigger plant its gonna need those CFLs for side lighting cuz these panels have a certain area they can cover that you should squeeze all the tops (buds) in.. Even though that light says its 100W, i wouldnt be into buying it over the mars.. i'd rather go with a light people have had good results with..see if mars can ship a 300W to you on ebay they're $70.. i use one and they perform very well espeicially veg.. altho i already wanna upgrade to HPS or somethin.. Those CFLs are SO bright though i have 2 23W for side lighting helps alot! and i feel they shine brighter than the mars panel and its a mix of purple and white light that looks cool..
That light actually seems decent for 50 bucks, it claims 100 true watts output. Compare to 150ish watts from an 80 dollar mars 300. But 4 plants vegged for 4 weeks are going to be way too big for a 1 ft space. Any cfl you add will help as well. How tall is your box? You want to plan on the plants stretching to 2-3x their height in flower.
Thanks for the comment. I am actually going to reduce my veg time to 3 weeks. I do not have a box, I am getting a tent. 80 x 80 x 180cm. The Mylar will help big time with the lighting. I am also planning on training my plant to stay small and bushy. I barely know how to do this since it is my first time growing, but I will learn once my light, tent and seeds arrive. I plan on putting the LED light about 100cm above the plants, and that way it should spread around the tent, even reflecting off of the Mylar. And is it true that the LED won't be good for flowering? As youyouknowme said..
I'm flowering for the first time with led right now, the results seem goid and comparable to the plabts I'm growing under 1k but I haven't sampled the finished product yet.
1 foot square ....even a small plant will take that up .....i started with just a bit bigger space than that and couldn't do more than 1 .....aftet they veg out for a month then start to flower will fill the 1 foot square space up fast !!..probably with smaller autos it's possible I did 2 vast and a blueberry auto ..ended up getting a bigger tent mid grow Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
Man even if you veg for two weeks I wouldn't try to flower 4 plants in that grow space.... why? So you can get the same yield from 4 small plants that you'd get from one big plant? That one led isn't even enough to properly flower one plant tbh unless you want a subpar yield... after reading reviews quiet a few people said it pulls between 50-55w from the wall (which is probably accurate) cheap companies will lie and do whatever they can to have you believe there leds are 100w which they are but they won't tell you what it's clocked down to just what it's max potential is which is useless... message them and see for yourself and if they don't straight up say it pulls 50-55watts and tries to tell you the voltage and what not instead then you know they are trying to hustle you... but for that price it's a ripoff... that's a dollar a watt for a generic light... I can get a cheap mars hydro that'll function way better on eBay or amazon for 50 cents a watt...
Well, it says that the output power is 100W. I have seen grows with 12W actual LED lights. (but with one plant)..
And I bet they only get a few grams... do you want 5 grams or a few ounces? And of course the company says its 100 watts because there is 100 watts worth of diodes ran at 50% nobody runs leds at 100% (maybe just maybe some companies but 99% don't).... especially generic ones But like I said message them and ask what the diodes are ran at and what the watts pulled from the wall is? I bet they'll give you a run around and tell you the voltage and this and that and that there is 100 watts worth of diodes but they will not answer your question. I've dealt with it all enough but you're more then welcome to learn for yourself as well... the reviews on the site you posted aren't going to say it pulls 50 watts for no reason lol it's pretty easy to test. Man if you wanna buy it buy it but I promise you'll get the same yield whether it's 1 plant or 4 plants in that space. The difference will be in the quality though you'll more than likely have a lot of airy bud compared to if you would of just done a single plant.
I It is rated 4.8/5 from 33 reviews.. It says 90% emitted light can be absorbed by plants.. And I will put 3 plants instead of 4. And remember, I am also going to use low wattage CFLs.. Maybe that can help a bit..? But I cannot find a good LED light. Everything I find here is over $500.
A You are right. The actual wattage is 55W. But the is good enough for 3 plants, right? 2 weeks veg? Plus an additional 2 CFL lights..?
I'm expecting to pull around a qp from each plant but we'll see. If the light only pulls 55w that blows, is there really no way you could get a mars 300? That light would be great for your space. Otherwise maybe if you got two of those lights as well as as many cfls as you can fit.
Th at costs 500 dollars for me.. Would a 250W CFL light work for 4 plants..? I can still cancel my order.
That would be fine for your space but the leds might be better. Is that literally the only led you can get or do you have choices? If you could buy a couple of those lights and use one for each plant that might be workable
