Leaves yellowing and dying

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Outdoors' started by vegafunky, Jul 19, 2017.

  1. Hey guys, i'm new to this forum.
About 3 weeks ago the bottom fan leaves started to yellow die and it looks like it's working it's way up.
I am growing outdoors in Southern of Spain (really hot).
I have tried giving them plain ph'd water, very little nutrients and double the nutrients, but nothing seems to change it.
    Could it be the heat?

Really? If so, can I not leave them in these pots? They are on my roof and starting to get visible...

  4. Yes root bound. Also just old leaves. Try to find some fabric pots. Eliminates root bound problems. 5 gallon size will work. Flowering is upon us.

  5. Haha, yes i hope they will start flowering soon! Apart from the yellow leaves, do you think im doing well for my first grow?

Btw thanks guys, I had no idea the cause would be root bound.

  7. Honestly, your plants don't look happy. They look stressed. All those leaves should be pointing up. Which is the sign of a happy healthy plant. It's not too late if you get those plants in some fabric pots like MrFooey said. 5 gallon pots would be better than what you have. Best Of Luck To You. IMG_1594.JPG

  8. Wow! Nice plant.
My leaves do point up, it was just very windy when i took the pictures.
I think the plants look stresed cause of the immense heat this week.

    Thanks a lot though.

  9. There is nothing wrong with your plants. BEAUTIFUL actually. Old lower leaves die off throughout the life of the plant and it's no big deal. Normal thing that happens. As your buds mature and get deeper into their flowering cycle, a few weeks before pulling time, you'll notice a huge die off of foliage. The plant will begin to use the stored sugars in the leaves to help itself finish out the buds. So don't freak out when that happens. By the time your plants are ready for harvest, they look like bud on a stick. LOL Excellent job. You can cut back on the nutrients though. When the overall color of the foliage is very dark green, that's a sign of nitrogen toxicity....probably from doubling the nutes. NEVER double the nutes!! LOL But you're looking great from what I see. Keep up the great work!! TWW PS: Wish I was with you there!!!!! LOL I'm in the VERY hot and humid Southeast U.S. where summer is pure punishment! Happy growing. TWW

  11. I need to apologize here. My computer screwed up and flipped onto someone else's pic. Sorry about that. Your still not in bad shape. I would repot into some larger containers though...and cut back on the nutes. Really, only the last pic showed anything of concern and I don't think it's anything that the repot won't fix. After several weeks of being in the same soil, they use up the food in it. At that point, you either have to take on the task of feeding yourself or repot into some fresh soil that will feed for you for more weeks. But if you use a good quality soil with the proper mix for optimal drainage (because they hate having their roots sit in moisture all the time) and water properly, you'll be fine. Again, sorry for the mess up.

  12. Hahahaha no worries. Thanks.

  13. Like she said though plant doesn't look bad the only thing wrong with it is it needs a transplant around a week after that it'll darken up and be healthy as can be...

  15. Yea when plants are rootbound you will notice the bottom leaves yellow up and pluck off very easily, the problem slowly works it's way up the plant and only gets worse. I would shoot for a 10 gallon air pot if you can find one, might yeild more than a 5 gallon.

  16. True 10 gallon will yield more under normal circumstances. The plant needs to recover and flowering is going to start very soon. Like within the next couple weeks more than likely. Not too sure what latitude op is at. Between recovery, transplant and the beginning of flower, that plant really isn't going to get much bigger. In my opinion, 10 gallons would be a waste of soil at this point.

  17. BTW i'm pretty sure you cant buy airpots here. And wont they still stretch a bit in flowering?
