  1. What's a easy way to figure out how to keep the ph at 6.0 to 6.5 what are the first steps to getting the water and soil to the correct ph

  2. Know your water source
    Know your nutrients
Calibrated your meter often and backup your meter with ph drop test kit .

  3. Just comes with practice.......like rodbuster said.......know what you are using......if you continue to use the same water source and same nutes....before long....you will know "X amount of this" added to 1 gallon of water will give me a ppm reading of ___ and a PH of ___.... then you will no longer need to test it.

  4. get a ph meter, then use general hydroponics ph up and ph down to adjust the ph in nutrient solution.

  5. You can probably just get away with a pH down product, as most tap water is alkaline by itself.

  6. But nutrients almost always will make it acidic.

Never be lazy about pH. I have a couple times and greatly paid for it. Also use the nutrient feeding chart and use half of what it says.

During my next grow though I will beging building and cooking my first organic soil.

  7. I agree with both of these........I use PH down 90% of the time for my water.......but there are times when I will use the blue vinegar..........

  8. True, and you want your water to be a little on the acidic side for nutrient uptake. In my case I have to add very little or no pH down when I fertilize, depending on what I'm adding. For in-between watering or flush, I have to count drops per gallon.

  9. Also when purchasing a pH meter you should buy a blue lab. They are pricey but I like my pH to be exact.

  10. Get pH up and down don't worry about soil test strips etc good luck
