leaf trimming

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by Mr bun, May 31, 2009.

  1. You know when you snip the pointy end of each leaf off the plant, what does that do?
does it make the plant more resinous?
and when should you start snipping it?

  2. anyone? any clues?

  3. Usually it's done during cloning. The bottom fan leaves become depleted of nutrients and start to yellow and die, (from the tip to the back). So you cut the yellowing part of the leaf back to prevent it from trying to heal itself, (thus taking away more nutrients from the already fragile plant) and directing all the available energy to growing upwards, and into the roots. I've seen people cut healthy leaves back like that, but have no idea as to why. It won't increase potency of the plant. Potency is more of a genetic trait, and how well you take care of it, ie, soil, lighting, nutrients, drying, curing, etc...
