Leaf folding question/issue on white wedding

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by mickey7171, Jun 25, 2020.

  1. I have a white wedding from ethos just starting week 8 of flower. About a week ago a bunch of the leaves started folding in half down. Not the fingers of the leaves but the whole leaf. Like if you spread your hand apart and then touched your thumb to your pinky palm down. I have looked all around and haven’t been able to even find a pic of this type of folding. I’m not even sure it’s an issue or just a genetics thing. The plant is very healthy so just wondering if any one has seen this and has an idea about it. I am in coco/perlite flora flex nutrients and a spydr 2P light. The plant did get hit with high temps up 96f for an hour and a half when my ac went out. I noticed the leaf fold shortly after that. But non of the other three plants did this Thanks for any in-site.

  2. I'm pretty new myself, so I could just as easily be wrong. I bet it's just a bit of heat stress, but with it being so late into flower it might take a bit longer to bounce back, if it does at all. My ladies usually start to turn yellow and die at around 8-9 weeks anyhow. My leafs do similar bending when they are a little heat stressed and maybe a little under watered. They always have bounced back within about 36 hours or so after I have watered/fed and adjusted my lights if needed.

So it might not be the biggest deal this late into your grow.

Could you throw up a pic or two?

  3. They are def not under watered. I give them 3/4 of a gallon twice a day. I was thinking the heat too but it was only for an 1.5 hours. I am not worried about it much more curious cause I have never seen this and can’t find anything on this type of leaf action. First two pics are the same leaf and then another leaf that’s doing it

  4. Yeah that's odd. Wonder what's going on, they do look good other than that bit of dropping.

    Good job

  5. It’s not even dropping though. The leaves are standing up just folded in half. Hoping some one has an idea about it

  6. Do you use any UV?

I have a plant that grew quick and seemed to have a set of top fans that got a sunburn from the UV. I have it’s sister plant right next to it and no issue. They get the same food, same schedules etc. The one is just my ch more sensitive to the UV and those leaves have tacoed. Plenty of lush vegetation around it but the usual wilting if some underlie bottom fans as well.

I hadn’t yet plucked those leaves but I will tonight. I’m in week 6 of flower and the buds look great.

I try not to stress to much if I’m checking things daily.

  7. Yeah there is uv in the light. The leaves aren’t wilting at all look super healthy just folded in half. Could be the uv idk

  8. Yeah there is uv in the light. The leaves aren’t wilting at all look super healthy just folded in half. Could be the uv idk. Like I said I can’t find pics anywhere with leaves doing this in them

  9. I posted this on another thread. This is taco-ing from UV burn, just praying, but it’s complicated by the fact that the plants genetics are purpling as it enters the last half of flower.

Luckily there is a sister plant next to it. Direct comparison as I feed them the same, same medium, same tent, air, though it’s corner may get cooler.

The biggest difference was the UV bar that crosses directly above that plant.

The plant on the left is a monster and not much phases it other than its own weight.

Excuse some nute burned tips and some uglier fan leaves as the have their nutrient store’s relocated.

I actually removed some leaves to look at them under a scope.

I have added another fan and cranked my lights up higher. I moved the UV bar all the way up.

Some plants are just different. But if you focus on the buds as well as knowing that eventually you lose almost all your fan leaves, or you do flushing.

  10. Did you look at the pics I posted? That is very different then what the leaves are doing on my plant. They are not tacoing. They are folding in half. Not the fingers of the leaves but the leaves them selves. Hold your hand out palm down. Then touch your pinky and thumb together and then your ring and index finger together. That’s what they are doing. Still can’t find a pic of it anywhere

  11. I don't know what it is and think it's weird it only happened to 1 but I also think it's fine. The temperature swing wasn't very long so if that is what did it I think it'll come right back

    OP.

I think you are way over stressing this. yes. I did look at your photos or I wouldn’t have bothered. I included a picture just to show that often strange things happen. Your pictures look fine. It’s all to often that young growers seem to think that plants firm perfectly. Go look at trees. They all are a bit different.

Your buds and trichomes look fine. Nothing looks damaged. It’s a plant. Plants do weird things.

The important part is your buds. Your leaves will die off.

These are autos, no? Ethos gives that away, so you have a ruderalis component. These will never look like classic white widow photos.

  13. They are not autos and they are not white Widow they are white wedding. I am not stressing it I know they are fine I was just curious if anyone has seen anything like this is all. Was wanting to find out if it was stress induced or more likely just in the plants genetics. But thanks for trying to help

  14. Yeah I don’t think it was the temp swing either and that was like 10 days ago and never came back. Think it was a coincidence that I noticed it around the same time. Just an oddity I guess

  15. Don't see anything wrong. Do not worry about leaves in late flower. Their going to do all sorts of weird things. Just keep doing what you're doing.

  16. Sorry about getting the strain wrong. THC ya know. Lol!

It’s all good. Buds are fine. Leaves can be wonky. At this stage it’s all about your buds and trichomes.

Best of luck with the harvest. That looks to be seriously sticky.

  17. Never seen anything like that man. Its wild.

  18. I haven’t found anyone that has. It’s happening on probably 20-30 leaves. Most near the top. A couple lower ones

  19. If it’s the top leaves then the light is probably too close or it could just be genetics I’ve had it before
