Leading global warming scientist: End democracy to stop global warming

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Sir Elliot, Mar 30, 2010.

  1. "Humans are too stupid to prevent climate change from radically impacting on our lives over the coming decades. "

    i believe it

  2. Now, I'm not really a conspiratorial faggot, but this has NWO written all over it.

  3. AGW is proven false because a group of scientists inflated their results?

If I were to be blindfolded and asked what color, red or black, was on a card in front of me, and I were to say red (the card actually being red) it doesn't logically carry that because I didn't have proof myself (just like the scientists didn't have proof to the degree their flawed findings claimed) that the card isn't actually red.

    As do I...

Although I think there's a bit of fear involved - fear of having bloody hands in the whole situation (i.e having contributed to such a mess). I don't think it's a coincidence that the same people who shit on the idea of global warming are the same ones who shit on the poor for being poor.

  4. What do you mean by shit on the poor?

  5. Rush Limbaugh has been warning us about the environmental wacko movement for well over twenty years.

What I was trying to illustrate is that there are certain people who are convinced to an absurd degree that what they do is right and good, and that there's absolutely no way that the manner in which they live their lives could be involved in the suffering of anything/body.

Take US trade policies for example. The tariff rates and other agreements we get a given country's elite to accept are good for US industries: sometimes it means less foreign competition and other times it means more foreign demand for our goods. We, and the foreign individuals in power with their signatures on the agreements, win big. Their people get poorer and lose big. Regardless of how a person chooses to interpret this situation, this is the system we're involved in; our pleasures are bought through the suffering, economic and otherwise, of others.

Then some of these same people who are on the receiving end of all that good shit (a group that includes you, me and everyone else posting on this board) will say something like 'FUCK HAITI! They can't support themselves in a natural disaster? Well that's just survival of the fittest bro '

It's this same callous attitude, this arrogant belief in one's absolute innocence that some choose to take up on the subject of global warming. It's a cop-out.

Edit: and you know what? Fuck global warming. As if that's the only reason to utilize sustainable practices. We're fishing our oceans dry, clear-cutting our planet's forests and ensuring the extinction of countless species. This is like a game of goddamn Jenga, and unless we change something, sooner or later our reckless behavior is going to fuck us up

  7. I believe it too. We care more about the size of our houses and cars then the food we put into our bodies.

    We are unbelievably short-sighted.

  8. I bought a pair of new shoes and the strings come up to my nut sack.

Maybe they can add a few more feet and I can quadruple knot them.

You bet your sweet ass people are short-sighted.

  9. "Climate Change" is the ultimate excuse to roll in the facism, even besting the long running, tried and tested false flag: Terrorism.

  10. Ah, because sustainability is surely the end of capitalism

Al Gore's problem was that he thought people were too stupid. He thought, 'man, if I can take this global warming shit, embellish the right points, throw in a few hypotheticals drawn from one extreme of expected outcomes I can freak people out enough to get off their lazy asses and do something'... Turns out, people are still stupid like hell, just a little less-so than Gore thought, and a little more invested in their way of life; smart enough to call out the hyperbole, dumb enough to ignore its origin.

I mean, hell, Max, you're a Christian for Chrissake! Does your respect for God's work begin and end at man? You're supporting a way of life that's tainting the bounty that all of mankind, past, present and (hopefully) future was apparently supposed to inherit. And for what? For temporary gain? For more money?

What would Jesus do? Probably this:

  11. I just joined facepalm; lets connect. :p

  12. har har har...

I'm serious, though, man! For someone that defends Christianity against its detractors as much as you seem to do here, someone that voices pro-life opinions as strongly as you do, I can't fathom why you would seem to care so little about the life-forms that, according to your religion as I understand it, your God created...

I'm not advocating that we blow up our cars and start living like nomads again; for a being to live it must take resources from its environment; that's true for all life. Surely, though, one doesn't need to eat meat 7 days a week or drive a Hummer in the suburbs or trash recyclables in order to survive comfortably? Nor does a society need to do such things to be capitalist. How much is too much Max? When is it just plain greed?

  13. He's not a 'leading global warming scientist', there's very little scientific support whatsoever for the Gaia theory. I quite like it in principle, as long as it doesn't require some kind of 'conscious Earth'.

I don't think he's off the mark in what he says either, humans are probably not intelligent enough to survive something like global warming. They haven't figured out how to collaborate with no incentive for profit, so how can they solve such a global problem?

  14. Lol; I'm not anti-environment man. I am opposed to fraud and fascism though.

I recognize this as a much bigger issue than most people suppose. I see the big picture.

I believe that this is environmental wacko-ism is headed toward a a very ugly place in human history.

Never mind the environment. God will take care of that. We are going to have much bigger issues dealing with wacko-ism in general.

If I were not at least partially correct then I would not have been able to find this in support of OP's thread....

  15. Max... did you know that James Lovelock founded the group Environmentalists for Nuclear Energy?

I've been a fan of his for a while.

  16. God already takes of the environment. God takes care of the rubbish tips, makes sure they're all tidy, there's not too much rubbish building up. God monitors pollution too, and fish stocks in the ocean. No need for humans to worry about such trivial things, leave it to God and we'll be safe from pollution - no need for humans to monitor tectonic activity either! God outta just take care of that little natural threat to man while he's at it :D

  17. How can you believe that? The Bible paints God as merciful, but not a fool. Christianity says that God gave mankind life, but does the tale of Adam and Eve not show that he will allow mistakes to be made? Mankind was cast out of Paradise for disobeying the will of God; do you think it's reasonable to believe that God would take no offense if mankind decided to annihilate His creatures - not due to the need to survive, but out of desire for material things? For luxuries?

You're going to find wackos on the fringe of any movement, it's inevitable. But can't you see that their intentions are good? Which is more likely, that Al Gore has a burning desire to control the minute details of your life or that he's simply a man who desperately wants to do a good thing but just hasn't figured out what's truly the best way to get it done?

Is Manhattan going to be underwater in 2050? No; that's extremely unlikely. But the Earth is hurting and action needs to be taken. We can't just sit around expecting God to fix the mess we've made of what's been given to us: God helps those who help themselves, no?

  18. I'm not saying that I want to pollute the planet with reckless abandon. I'm an animal lover at heart. I love wildlife and wildlife habitats.

I am saying that I believe that environmental extremism will likely be the excuse for the next holocaust on planet Earth.

    Again...

“Global Sustainability requires the deliberate quest of poverty, reduced resource consumption and set levels of mortality control.”
    - Professor Maurice King
