Do you know whether it's safe to smoke from those cheap pipes/bongs from the headshop, and particularly colored/stained glass? I know that you can drink from lead crystal wine glasses, although I have read that you aren't supposed to store liquids in them from extended periods of time because the risk of lead leeching into the liquid is possible.
I don't think using a china piece a few times is going to do much, but if you could, you should get a new, hand blown piece. It'll hit better and be easier to clean than the cheaper stuff anyway.
