Kofi's No Till Scrog Experiment - GG Allin!

Discussion in 'Growing Organic Marijuana' started by kofidog, Aug 9, 2017.

  1. @kofidog - if you use steep hills service, you'll want to have 8 to test. The kits comes with 8 tests and tags. You do them all in one shot. Work methodically and do one at a time to avoid mixing anything up. The is another lab Home - Phylos Bioscience that has a 4 kit.

  2. thats sucks...but you didnt really waste any amendments, everything returns to the soil and gets recycled.
as for finding females, i think if you're going with regular seeds you really need at least 5 to have good odds of at least one female.

  3. Thats the premise I work under Sc00bie, last seed pop I did 20 and worked them down from there. As usual, I ended up with more females than anticipated, so now I'm forced to cull or clone and wait for pots to become available before I grow them out.

  4. @FickySiskers, I've been in touch with the folks at Steep Hill, and they told me they don't ship their Genkits internationally. So plan B is to create a space for sexing clones if I want to use my regular beans. The other day, after pulling out the 2 male plants from my 10 gal smartpot, I planted 2 fem beans (Eagle Bill by Sensii Seeds) in dixie cups. If they both pop, my plan is to choose the more vigorous of the two and grow her out as a scrog in my tent. I pondered popping a few more GG Allins beans and putting them out in my garden around the back of the house, and to try cloning them again once were old enough (I've been watching videos on how to do it) and sex them. But then I thought it's spring here in Oz, so it's probably too early to plant outside since the plant wouldn't start flowering for about 5 months from now, and would be too big and conspicuous by then. Got neighbors close by. So looks like the best thing is to stick with fem beans for now, and I'll just do one Eagle Bill in a scrog indoors.

  5. Regardless of what you end up doing, it all counts towards experience. That's the main thing...

    It's a shame they won't ship.

  6. Growing out a fair bit of SSS genetics this season. Kind of regret giving the GG Allin to my mate to grow now!!! Looks like some healthy plants you got there.

One of my own Sativa strains. A hybrid of West African crossed with a Shri Lankan.

  7. SSS have been gifted some of my genetics. I've nothing to do with the company. I do expect something interesting in the coming year from them. This is a Pineapple Chunk x Afghan #1 x African x Shri Lankan. Had some major issues with wet weather and ended up having to finish them in the hothouse. Would have been better of having them in pots in there in the first place... :-/

A bit more Canna porn for you all. :) They also have some old school Norfolk Green seeds, an incredibly rare Sativa from an Island in the Southern Coral Sea. Hopefully available to the growing community in the near future. ;-) The strain pictured is a G13 HP x Norfolk Green.

  9. Gorgeous!

  10. Interesting leaf formations on this one...

  11. Hey man, thanks for dropping in and sharing - helps keep this thread interesting!
After pulling the two male GG Allins I had, I popped 2 Eagle Bills (Sensi Seeds) and another 2 GG Allins. The Eagle Bills will be scrogged in the tent, and I try taking clones from the GG Allins to flower and detrrmine if one of them is a female. If so, the mother will be vegged and flowered in my Mrgrowpro pc case. The Eagle Bills are feminised, so no need to sex them.

  13. Ok! After my old computer died, I've had to invest in a new one. I've switched from a Mac over to a Windows 10 machine, and the learning curb is steep and still curbing! Really sorry about the lack of posts, but I'm still here and hopefully I'll post a bit more often now. I have been struggling to bluetooth photos from my phone to my new computer, but for reasons beyond me, it just ain't happening. I've done it plenty of times in the past using my Samsung phone and my Mac - never a problem. Go figure.. Anyway..

My garden seems to be coming along ok. This scrog is finally starting to take shape. Just to review, I've got two Eagle Bills (Sensiseeds) in a 10 gallon smartpot under a Mars II 400 LED. I topped both plants once and spread the branches out 4 ways in preparation for the scrog. The Billies were switched over to flower on the 20th Nov., and according to Sensiseeds, should be finished flowering sometime around the 22nd of January, or about 2 months from now. Hopefully the scrog will help give a good yield from these two - I'm hoping for at least 3 zips from each, more wouldn't go astray!

I've also germinated two more GG Allins and put them outside into the garden; when they are ready I will take cuttings in order to sex them. If I have a female, she'll be kept inside my little mrgrowpro server tower and I'll grow her out just for the fun of it. Not expecting much yield from this, but if I can get close to an ounce out of it I'll be happy with that.

Strange though, although germinated at the same time, one of the Allin girls is much taller than the other - the smaller one is currently standing at 7 cm while the taller is 39 cm.! Stunted? Both have been topped too. The taller one has even been supercropped in an effort to keep her height down for stealth purposes.

Okay here's some pix from the Billy Scrog! The first 4 pix are from the 6th Nov.:

  15. Damn man - well done!

They look so lush and healthy, so glad this worked for you. Can't wait to see the flowering bud.

  16. So far, so good - keep your fingers crossed! I'm liking this watering schedule that Mofo recommended. I've checking eagerly every nite to see if I can see any preflowers, but so far only new leaves are coming in. This is the 10th day of the flowering light schedule, so hopefully I should start seeing the beginnings of flowering soon.
And by the way, you've been missed Vegi!

  17. How bloody unlucky can I get? I've had to pull one of my Eagle Bills today cause it turned out to be a male. Somehow I was under the impression that those were feminised seeds, but turns out they were regular. There is still a plant in the tent as the preflowers on that one cannot be recognized as definitely male or female yet. Really hoping it's a she, otherwise it'll be a real setback in lost time. Gotta learn how to sex clones!! Every cutting I've taken so far just dies on me within a day or two - not sure what I'm doing wrong.

  18. I've heard that alot of fem seeds turn out male heck I've had one male and others Hermie on me.

Don't worry bro, I know it wastes time but I'm sure another will fem.

    What's your cloning method?

  19. I basically just take a cutting from the mother plant by choosing a side branch and cutting it on a 45 degree angle just below a node. I then dip it in powdered aloe (mixed with water) and stick it in a jiffy plug. Maybe I need to leave a bit more stem?

  20. Nothing but good things about this method.

    Rooting Clones The Easy Way

I have all the stuff just need to make it and get a decent mother going.
